The final post! The end of a long story!
About this creation
Ladies and gentlemen, friends and fellow builders!
I’m proud to present you now - after over two years of stress, problems, etc. - the final post and the end of this virtual journey:
The Klingon Bird of Prey!!!

Here is a nice little animation of the cloaking device!
First of all, I want to thank Eric Albrecht (Blakbird) ! He was the man, making the rendering in a high quality of a 50 MB POV-file, initial possible. I think it was a quite big challenge for him, if not the biggest itself. I asked him what the biggest POV-file, he rendered, was - his answer: 5 MB! With much effort and time he achieved the success! He also made the animation above!
I can’t even thank him enough for his help - I can only say it again and again: Thank you very much Eric!!!
Before we start with the actual presentation, I want to share some facts about this model with you:
- Warning: Astronomical numerical values!!! -
01 Model
10 Subparts
70 Sub-Subparts
Size in studs:
L: 516
W: 421
H: 195
Size in centimeters:
L: 409.27
W: 334.17
H: 154.30
Total count of parts:
274.350 (This is no joke!!!)
Okay, after the shock about these facts, we can now even start the presentation - Enjoy it!

Here are the pictures I used for the "construction":
Here are the renders I made - not as phenomenal as the renders of Eric - where you can see the details and the patterns!

And last but not least, the best render of all!

Thanks for your time, your patience after more than two years and all the motivating comments on the "journal entries"!!! Now I have to find a new, big project for the next two years...

Hi Kevin
LG Micky |

For the metric-challenged, its dimensions convert to
L: 13' 5.13"
W: 10' 11.56"
H: 5' 0.75"
This couldn't be built in real life without a steel frame to support it. How thick are the wings? It's hard to tell from the pictures. Steel plates might be needed there. |

YES! Wow! Why do I have not seen this before?
You already know that it's epic, wonderful! I know how much effort it was as I have a 280,000 brick model myself made with MLCad and I also know the problems with POVray :-)
Would be nice if you join the "Beyond 15,000 bricks" group ( http://www.mocpages.com/group_mocs.php?id=11151) and add your very fine model there. This group is intended for those gigantic projects like yours.
Do you plan to build it with real bricks or sell the building instructions?
Anyway, 5 points is not enough. |

Incredible! |

or did you use Ldraw because it's not sure the ship could support its own massive weight ? I guess it would easily weigh anywhere in between 100 and 200 kg at that brick count. I'm sure you could easily deduct it's virtual weight by examining the ldraw bill of quantities. |

wow very epic proportions, hard to make out it's LEGO even at 800x600.
I hope to god you were able to copy / paste groups of bricks or even better, wrote a script to mirror modules ( let's say half the ship :D ) ?
Don't know it this feature exists in ldraw but must be doable in txt-mode changing all the "y" axis values by "-y" for instance ( if it's that simple ). What's the reason you built this in LDD, is it cost or too much rare colors ? |

Truly magnificent! Johnny and I were very close on our size and material estimates (we guessed around 250,000 elements). It's been a great experience watching this baby "grow up" through her design phases. If you ever turn this into a real world MOC, we'd be tempted to fly to Germany to see it (and you, my Friend!)! As the Klingons would say..."Today is a good day to Lego" |

Wow. This was one of the first digital models I saw on Mocpages when I joined up and I've been following it ever since! Great work, a truly fantastic model. |

I'm speechless. well. Actually I would make sure you have the computer file of this build either on many different computers or on one computer set up in RAID 2 in case of HDD/SSD failure. :P well done mate. |

I hope you got paid to do this since two years is a long time to create one virtual MOC! XD ... That being said, this is probably one of the most spectacular undertaking! I could only imagine being built with real bricks. Bravo! |

Ich bin grad extrem überwältigt! Das ding ist 4 meter lang?! Wahnsinn! |

Wow! This is seriously awesome, and I don't use that word lightly. That's about 5 times the number of all of my parts. I am not one for LDRAW or LDD usually, and the same goes for Star Trek (so I cannot judge how accurate the shape is). But you, you've grabbed my attention and I'm still looking at this. Probably will come back to look at it some more too. Sterling effort! |
