Hose cart (late 1800's)
About this creation
The next exhibit in my Lego Town's fire museum is a hand drawn hose cart. It was introduced during the 1870's to make use of the town's new mains water supply. Now firefighters could draw water under pressure without the need for a pump. To begin with, the town had no above ground hydrants so the cart had to carry a standpipe to connect to the water main. As well as the standpipe, it carried tools, hoses, a nozzle and is fitted with an oil lamp. I based the cart and its contents on info and pics of a British hose cart I found on the 'net.

Here it is being put through its paces by my modern firefighters...

Close up of the contents... I might see about swapping the rubber hoses for reels of string hose

Thanks for looking... more old fire stuff to come...

Nice. But it isn't a cart, it's a wagon.
