OR-2400 Goliath-class Mobile walker crane
For the 2010 mech contest, in the category of civilian mech. Now that i've had my warmup round, it's time to get serious! This beautiful machine is the future of mobile cranes and it can be yours for a low price of 20 million global credits! They are used on large construction sites all over the world. The massive feet make this the perfect machine for uneven and dangerous terrain. This moc is the largest civilian mech i've ever built. It's 2' long when the boom is lowered(the body is 9" long and 9" wide), and 23" tall with the boom fully extended(the body is 8" tall). Well, time to get started on my third entry!
About this creation

Here is the main body of the crane.

Here is the operator next to one of the legs.

This is the operator's cabin. The onboard computer runs fairly complicated software that automatically moves the legs according to control inputs. Thanks to the software, the operator only uses one joystick to move all four legs instead of having to move each leg separately.

Here is the top of the body. The little winch you see at the top of the picture is for raising and lowering the hook. The gear at the bottom of the picture, raises and lowers the arm.

This is the end of the arm. Here you can see the pulleys and the hook.

This is an I-beam that i built to go with it and the operator again.

The side.

The front.

The back.

And now, the usual Jason-brand overhead shot(patent pending)

O....M...G I had no trouble on this one man. It scores a solid Five, I wouldn't Be surprised if this was one of the first full twenties of the contest.

I take a few days off and come back to this, thank you! Like Matthew I was torn between a 4 and a 5. However, due to obvious amount of work you put into this, I have give you the 5. Congrats.

Wow, a truly beautiful crane to be sure, I love all the detail, and you even thought of making the arm raise and lower by gears, as well as a winch for the crane! love it! If I were a judge I'd give this a 10 out of 5...even though I'm not:P

I think it's funny no other judge wants to be the first to deal with this. Probably because it doesn't look so much like a mech as it does a walking crane. But, hey, that's what this comp was all about right? Creativity? I was waffling with this for a while. But, come on guys, does this thing really deserve anything less than a five? I don't think so. Even though it's about as shocking as Jesse James' infidelity, I award Mr. Corlett 5 points. Outstanding work here. What eventually pushed me into the five was actually the I-beam. It's a great little detail that just showed a lot of dedication.

If i were to have one of these, i would have to spraypaint it lime green to match my Hydralic Excavator (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/185439). Check it out! (Not as cool as yours though XD)
