This was a challenge put forth on another site, the challenge was to build something different using only the pieces the Lego kit contained. I did pretty good, I only had 6 pieces left over and I didn't borrow any.
About this creation
The boom actually slides in and out, and the sliding door works too. I kept to the contest perimeters and created simulated line using the arm pieces.
These cranes in real life are capable of hoisting or uprighting a de-railed locomotive and are still in use today. However they are usually tasked to changing worn out and damaged rails. :)
The Lego kit used was #10133 BNSF GP-38 Locomotive, I'll get back to you to let you know how the contest went, there's some pretty stiff competition in MLNO...
