Mechs are not really my cup of tea. I've tried a couple of Star Wars mechs and a Space Skull one, but that was long ago now... Nevertheless, I wanted to have a go and here's the result: The Space Police UAM. Hope you'll like it, I sure did have a great time building it.
About this creation
This creation is somewhat inspired by Brian Kescenovitz' early Dawn Forge Mechs. They really made a great impact on me when I was in my "Exo-era". Thank you Brian!
Armament: two powerful cheek-mounted Gatling guns and eight "Freeze"-class EMP heat-seeking missiles under the "chin". The latter very effective for stopping an evasive vehicle.
The UAM is capable of carrying one prison pod. A busted bad guy is in for a bumpy ride...
The cockpit holds two Space Police officers. Up front the gunner and behind the driver. This unit is piloted by the gorgeous WSPI Michelle Stomper. The gunner is the reckless constable Trig Happie.
Equipped with double floodlights a three-horned loudspeaker and a twin-mounted rapid firing cannon for clearing the closest perimeter.
When building a Mech, gravity is a big issue. In theory, this one is rather poseable but the weight of it was too much for the double knee joints to manage.
I managed to get a couple of photos of it in an awkward pose before it crumbled...
Seems like the Black Hole Gang found themselves a probable remedy to the UAM threat: an old Bridge Walker from another galaxy far, far away...
My favorite part is the stop sign! The Exo-mech looks really reptilian and menacing. Looks like Trig Happy will actually get a chance to use those weapons. The legs aren't my thing. I like AT-ST style legs a bit more, but the detail that you put in was what really caught my eye. A well deserved 5/5!
As others have pointed out below Marcus, there's a big spoonful of ED-209 in this build, but that's great as far as i'm concerned! Love the towering, menacing look of this. The weapons are great and I like the pilot/ gunner arrangement of the cabin, like an attack chopper. Great stuff.
First, sorry for my late comment. Second, can´t understand why I took so long! Once again you deliver a brand new masterpiece! Like others has comment, you´ve succended to place just right number of guns. Not to many and not to less. Those gatlings are brillant, nice design there - fleshie! If I have to choose a favourite thing I have to say the horn under it. Haha, great detail!
Well, I must say that those to cops must have the force finest job, I mean, they must have fun on their work!
i must say i love the really cool space police design you should sell the design to lego for thats great. love the firepower often alot of firepower lokks messy but this dont and i like the little story you got but i will bet my money on the bridge walker (i got it by my self and its the best set from exoforce)
I too have had problems like this in the past. I haven't been able to get the dum thing to stand up, so I need to use either a piece of paper, or have someone hold it up while I shot the Photo(i still haven't found out how to put photos on the page, but i'll find out!) So all together it looks like a wicked thing to drive in.
You know if you had left out the "Urban" part of the title you could of called your mech S.P.A.M. for short! Sorry, I don't even know if Spam (the salty ham-like lunchmeat in a can) is sold in Sweden. Great mech anyway. I'd say build more of them. By the way, it's good to know I'm not the only 30-Something AFOL around (eventhough I've still got you beat by a few years).
Crismo, the robot/mech/cyborg that you were referring to was the ED-209 and it was in all three RoboCop films. Personally, I feel like this mech is like one of those on steroids. Now if it only had hidden missiles like that other one as well as some more guns, I would be happy, but as it is right now, this mech should DEFINITELY be made into an official LEGO set because it has been over a decade since there has been any kind of robotic vehicle in LEGO Space and the Space Police sub-themes have NEVER had a mech before, so why not start one for them based on this design, LEGO?
Woow, when it comes to miniguns and mechs Im easily amused, and this guy is one big winner! As stated it looks like the ED-209 from Robocop, yet, way cooler! Its has everything to be an efficient crime fighting vehicle, those punks better run! Also reminds me of my mech, the HellRaider, go check it out, youll see they have some stuff in common...
Yes !!! Mech are hard to build, and this one is really great. Goes well with the theme. It reminds me the evil robot in "Robocop" (1 or 2 I don't know). As usual with your work, it would be a credible and outstanding set. Win !
