Mark Twain sternwheel river boat as used in Disneyland.
About this creation
130 studs long minifig scale paddle steamer.
This is the famous replica of a river boat used in Disneyland. I´ve actually been on board on one of these. (In Paris)
Disclaimer; The "Mickey-ears" are used here for identification purposes only. This MOC is not a Disney(R) product! ;-)
The rounding of the hull and the decks are the same techniques used in the Calypso MOC.
As this is a river-boat with extremely flat bottom, I did not feel the need to do the whole hull. So this is more or less a water-line model. (The MOC is actually a little higher than the water-line, as the sternwheel would otherwise conflict.)
Surprise; The MOC has a full interior!
Close-up of the boiler-room.
Complete with water-level indicator. Pressuer indicator. Furnace with flames showing. Valves for feeding-water and vapor-outlet, among other things...
The bar. The draft-beer tap is not correct. All one could ever enjoy aboard this Disney ride was a Mint Julip...
The luxury cabin. I suppose taste and style was somewhat different almost 150 years ago...
Anyway, it looks good as a mantle-piece!
Video of the moving paddle wheel;
SCALE is a little akward with this MOC;
The Disney Mark Twain(s) are made only to 5/8 scale, so that makes my MOC around 1:32 scale relative to the Disney replica(s), but 1:49 (minifig) scale relative to a real world Mark Twain.
The MOC is pretty big, and I dont think MOCpages´ 800 pixels wide photos really do it justice, so I suggest you look at the same photos on Brickshelf, where they are available in MUCH higher resolutions; Mark Twain on Brickshelf
I love this ship! Please tell me where I can get a list of parts and instructions! This is so awesome! I love Disneyland and this is one of my favorite things there. Thanks!
the attention to detail on this moc is amazing,magnificent even. this is also probably the only one ive seen in this theme(steamboat or old timy boats) of this scale
WOW!!!! That is an amazing creation. I have been on this boat so many times(I've been to disney world 5 times) that I know for certin, that this is almost an exact replica of the real thing. the one thing I would change is make it sit another brick hight out of the watter(add one more row of black bricks on the bottom.) but other than that, it is perfect. I wish there was more than a five star on the ratting sistem because this deserves like 1 million stars. GREAT WORK OF ART!!!!!
There is so much fantastic detail in this that it would take too long to point it all out. The wood deck, the Mickey ears and the engine room are absolute favorites! A real 'WOW' of a creation.~H
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL work! The detailing is exquisite. I would love to be able to see this person, but meanwhile, thanks for sharing this fantastic creation with us...well done!
THANKS a lot guys! It is really heart-warming and encouraging to receive such comments! As many details still remains unseen despite the many photos, I will post a video walk-through at extreme close-up soon. So stay tuned! ;-)
I am always amazed at people who do something new in out of LEGO! This is definitely one of those models. It's not just original, it's perfect! It definitely looks like one of those steamboats from the Mark Twain's stories! Awesome work!
Great work! I've seen a few riverboats done in LEGO, but yours is definitely up with my favorites. Great work, it really captures that "southern" feel.
Good day
Spectacular Job! Too many special items to list...but love the decor and the double layering of the walls to keep the cabins and the corridors colorful (and not!). Bravo!
I just love it!!! I live just north of New Orleans and I've taken rides on the ones there. I've wanted to build one myself, but just haven't gotten that far yet. Your detail is wonderful. You've really inspired me to give it a try. Thanks so much for sharing.
Lovely. Not quite sure how I missed this going through all your folders. It's more than eye catching. (added later: never mind, I just saw it's your newest one).
100% Professional and Very Very Nice Build. Excellent, Top Notch, Front Row all the way. Keep up the GREAT Work THX for letting me enjoy your Lego work of Art!!! TT
