...in the catacombs of steel.
The maintenance tunnels of Futuron City are the final resting place for many marines; they lovingly refer to these tunnels as the catacombs of steel.
About this creation
Maintaining a utopia is hard work. A Futuron marine can expect many fun things in the catacombs during his daily shift: leaky acid-filled pipes, smugglers, gangs, mutants, mutant-gangs, or if they're lucky, a queen rooter. Originally a failed academy experiment, the first rooter escaped into the tunnels and reproduced quickly. Now, rooters infest the tunnels and enjoy clogging up important power and utility lines. Marine squads specializing in rooter extermination are known as "plumbers."

"...and just when I thought I was going to have a good day."

"ITS A QUEEN!"

The "Deus" ride armor.

And here is the full dio. Normally, I love thinking outside the box. This time I decided to build a cliche space battle but worked on cramming as much detail and action into the scene as I could, velvet lining my box so to speak. Hope you enjoyed my first attempt at brick built action. The first version had too much going on and I had to cut the marine getting chopped in the fan and the forklift spill. Here is the forklift as a bonus.

This is great work. I haven't seen many things this detailed and accurate anywhere besides the lego website, which produces some scene by scenes like this. I especially like the pipe designs and how you managed to create the monster effect. Very well done and the forklift, while short, looked very cool. Can't wait to see what you might do next.

That is just one sweet looking sci-fi scene! Some of my favorite parts are the broken water/spraying tubes, the yellow vents (I don't know why but that was a good color choice... who'da thought?) and the good 'ol fashion grated floors. There's definately a high action feel here too. Amazing.

Despite being action-packed, there's an air of *good* simplicity-meaning, the layout of the wall & floor elements hasn't been overdone AND is flawless, as is the colour scheme-to this MOC. Plus, the forklift acid-spill effect is incredible, and gruesomely funny! There goes a 5/5 to your building skills! Keep it up!

Really nice stuff Alex. The queen and the yellow pipes stand out really well against the grey, the balance of action and detail is good (something i've struggled with when trying to do dio's) and the forklift spill is a lovely extra! Loving the different techniques for the pipes, louvres, fans, etc.

That Rooter knows exactly how I feel after a day in my classroom! Excellent diorama. I love the contrast between the dull industrial grays and the shockingly wild green. The way the Rooter is bursting from the wall is classically brilliant. Here's to a fantastic build!

Wow Alex, way to take a cliche and make it LEGO gold! Every detail is fantastic and you crammed a ton of action into a relatively small space. If finding the forklift spill funny is wrong, I don't want to be right. Germans are the only ones with a word for that, schadenfreude, finding humor in the suffering of others. Speaking of which, sure would have loved to see the guy getting 'Slap-Chop'ed by the fan...~H

How... on... Earth... did... you... do... THAT!?!? I can't create really good sci-fi MOCs cause I have just some grey pieces. But I do have alot of black. Can black pieces, (it replaces the grey) be good in a sci-fi MOC?

This is great! I love how you were able to create such a simple plot, yet have it be so deep at the same time. I can really get a sense of the tunnels and their perils. I'd love to see more on this theme. The queen rooter is amazing! One of the most vicious looking creatures I've seen made out of Lego. The mech is well built, simple, but well built non the less. Great work! Peace ~ Packie

Quoting Sput N!k This is VERY cool, you definitely succeeded with the action, too bad you couldn't fit all of it in there. It's very well done, 5/5, but if I may make a suggestion you could really add to this I think by playing with the lighting a little. Nice job!
Agreed on the lighting. I still have it set up so now that I have shown off the detail, maybe I'll go back and take some suspense shots. Thanks for the feedback.
