Trench warfare is bad enough, but when the snow comes, fighting is almost impossible.
About this creation
Somewhere in the middle of the shell hole ridden, muddy, wet, cold no-man's land, a fox hole that a soldier huddled in, a machine gun and some barbed wire was all that separated him from death due to an enemy charge, which was the sole reason he was there, to stop as many Germans crossing over.
He looked over the top, straining his eyes to see what was going on in the German trench.
A huddle of spikes from their weird helmets.
An enemy charge for certain, and the soldier hurried to load his machine gun, a shout, gun shows, machine gun fire.
The soldier held his wits, and fired at the dark grey uniforms as they rose out of there trench.
A German sniper looked down his sights, "Silly tommy, you show you'r head to me!" the sniper pulled the trigger.
Three days later, it started to snow, no one had gone to find the body of the tommy, no one thought about the fox hole.
It just became hole with some barbed wire and a machine gun.
An in-accurate story, whether they did do this sort of this (foxholes to stop enemy charges) is unknown to me, but it would not surprise me if there where armoured shells pits. and thanks for the comments!
