Chris' 2010 BrickWorld Layout (and more)
About this creation

Well ladies (both of you) and gentlemen, here it is in all its glory! I took my brick collection and threw it at the wall and where it landed is what I’m taking to Brickworld this year! I’ll be brief with my descriptions and let most of the pics speak for themselves. Without further ado, let’s take a look at my Brickworld contributions!

Here’s the entire TRON portion of my layout. It includes the recognizer, tank, lightcycle and Sark’s carrier.

The tank… yeah, the same one that’s been giving me insane amounts of hassle since I started this project. Not even Sark’s carrier was as much of a pain in the butt as this thing. Even after all this, I’m still not happy with it. I still have time to tinker with it I guess… we’ll see what version ends up at Brickworld in June.

My version of 2x4s light cycle! I had to make some minor modifications to my design since I didn’t have enough small white radar dishes, but the end result is still pretty cool. Thanks to 2x4 for posting not only his awesome design, but instructions as well!

The Recognizer. You’ve all seen it already and read the write up. No changes except for the trans bricks to make it “fly” over the game grid.

Sark’s carrier. I made no less than 4 trips to the Lego store to get the bley brick for this thing. At least when I’m done and tear it down, I’ll never want for bley brick to make walls again!

I love this shot. Gives it that “overlord menace” feel that I was going for.

Here’s a build that I did for a group collaboration project that I’m not at liberty to give the details of. Shhh, it’s a surprise.

And you thought it was just a plain building… HAH! I was asked to build a scene and took it one step further. That’s Chris, always over compensating for something. As you can see here, the roof opens up…

Then you open the front panels of the building and voila! Resting inside the second story of the building is the small scene I was asked to build. There’s going to be “something” hanging from those pieces sticking out of the wall. What’s it all about you ask? You’ll have to come to brickworld to find out!

The awesome Mr. and Mrs. Sterling again asked if I would like to contribute to their HUGE layout this year. Of course, I can’t resist an invitation to be a part of something that cool. The next few shots are my contribution to their setup! I like to call this piece, Madam Stacy’s House of Pleasure.

Just another angle of the House of Pleasure.

And another… if there’s one thing Madam Stacy’s House of Pleasure promises, it’s plenty of different angles for your pleasure.

The rear angle shot… always a winner.

I could go on making angle of pleasure jokes, but I’ll let you fill in the blanks as we go on…

One of the bonuses of the house is when it takes its top off!

And then there’s the interior shots! I’ll let you “fill” in your own joke on this one. Come on, you know you have one…

The house laid out in its component parts. You won’t be able to see this in this state too much at brickworld, but when you see it, just know this awesomeness is waiting inside.

Here is a quick shot of my retiled “Communications Universal Networking Transponder.” It was just WAY too busy with all the multicolored tiles that were on it before. Looked like a HALOkiddie had thrown up on it… sad really. The retiled version looks a lot smoother which is what we all want in one of these. Also, if you look in the background, you can see the WIP of Waterlogged version 2 that I’m working on! Can’t wait to see the bigger, better version in action this year.

Bonus Shot! My recent trip to the LegoLand Discovery Center with my daughter (the small one), my wife (the not quite as small one next to her) and the Sterlings and one of their friends that got suckered in to coming along. Man that trip was a lot of fun and WAY too short. Can’t wait to meet up with them again this June and go back!

Fourth Wall Commentary: What, you want more? Seriously? If you want more, you’ll just have to come to Chicago this June and visit us for BrickWorld 2010! I promise you won’t be disappointed… unless you go in to the bathroom with Lee and he DOESN’T make you his “Dave Sterling.”

See you all there! I can’t wait!

Till next time true believers!
~Chris.

Quoting Christian t hey Chris, this is awesome! I was pretty bummed that i didnt get to go to 2010. We had planned on it, but I kind of "got out of legos" before we were going. Anyway, now it's kind of a come and go thing. Is there a way I could contact you (email or something) so as not to ask a long, boring question in the comments? If you could get back to me, that would be great.
Of course Christian. You can feel free to ask me any questions in this group here: http://mocpages.com/group.php/8176 I apologize but I don't give out my email address in public. Looking forward to helping where I can!

I second that, Louis! Just a suggestion for your Recognizer, Chris. Why don't you make a support from the back of it to your Lego Backdrop. In that way it still "flies" and you don't need an ugly stack of trans bricks! Have fun at BW, and say hello to all our mutual friends overthere, will ya?
