Four medieval shops. Mixing of European and American building techniques.
About this creation
As normal for me, I can't seem to build much until the pressure is on to get stuff done for a show. With a display in 2 days, I am cutting it close. Yesterday I completed two houses and was semi unhappy with them. So chalk that up to a learning experience. Fortunately, these new shops are much more pleasing to the eye.

My previous two houses used 1x1 bricks and plates double stacked for the timbers. I didn't like the look so much, so borrowing from some creations I had seen on Lugnet and some others on 1000steine, I went with single stacked plates and 1x1 round bricks.

These buildings are lacking interior details and as such, don't have any assigned function, like bakery or something. Nevertheless I tried to give each shop character to set it apart from the others.

I like the barn shape the roof makes, but my wife was mocking me, saying it looked like a jungle bungalow.

My infatuation with brown and tan continues. I borrowed from Jon Furman and scattered dark grey throughout the bottom.

Looking through my parts I decided that I had enough burnt orange to make a house. Once I finished this one, I thought the top was a little bare, so I went back and added the lion's head.

Yellow seemed to go nicely with the black and a plundered pirate ship later, I had some nifty curved windows.

A good night's work, if I say so myself.

I agree with Keith, I also like the orange one t he best besides the lion head. Although I love the roof on the yellow one. Great building.
