Order O7A Anubis VHF (2.0)
Anubis Very Heavy Fighter from the PC game Freelancer
About this creation
So, remember when I remade my Stiletto? Remember how it was a really good thing that I did because the original kind of stunk? Yeah, so, it was only a matter of time before I did the same with my Anubis. The only question is why the heck it took me five years to do it. The original has, despite the fact that I built it when I was 14 and such basic concepts as color-coordination were still relatively new to me, become my most popular MOC, with 13,000+ views. Figure that out, 'cause I can't. Anyway, on to the peekchurez:

For those interested, the ship's infocard text from the game:

"Built from the ground up by Orillion's Corps of Engineers, the Anubis is a one-of-a-kind class of ship. It has been completely outfitted for optimal performance in combat, with the best possible balance of power, armor and weapon extensibility. It is used by The Order to infiltrate, secure and, if need be, quickly dominate in hostile situations. Though it is not an easy ship to fly, in the hands of a skilled pilot the Anubis is unbeatable."

Gun/Turret Mounts: 6/1
Armor: 4200
Cargo Space: 70
Max Batteries/NanoBots: 29
Optimal Weapon Class: 5
Max. Weapon Class: 6
Additional Equipment: M, CM, CD / T

Fun fact: I recycled a bunch of the same parts used in the original to build this - the original was actually still somewhat intact - it only lost both wings and the side panels. The canopy design is the most obvious part (I actually tried to redesign it, still nothing else looked right) as well as the dorsal fin piece and the slopes at both ends of the fuselage.

The underwhelming back end. As you can see, this time I actually put the correct number of engines! Go me.

Obligatory top shot.

I had to take two photo sessions of this thing because the lighting in the first one turned out wonky. My camera's screen is horrible for judging light. Anyway, this is the sole pic I saved from the first shoot, since said bad lighting actually looks kinda cool in this one.

The underside, where you can see I hid a couple badly yellowed pieces.

The missile launcher on the bottom left is based on the design by Marc Runde. Go check out his FL stuff, it's much better than mine.

This is probably my favorite angle.

The real deal.

For fun, a size comparison with my (now rather dusty) Basilisk. 2160 meets 3063!

Trivia time! What do these two ships have in common? Answer after the next pic.

Answer: They're both the first enemy ship you fight in their respective games, and they both are introduced in a similar manner. (Flying in and blowing something up in a cutscene)

Anyway, that's that. Now I'm sure any second now I'll notice something glaring I screwed up in the construction or the photographing. I always do riiiiight after posting the page. =P Ah well, enjoy anyway.

Epic! That's really great! I really enjoyed that ship in the game and spent time only looking at it from different angles :D thank you for this lego version!!

Wow, I'm impressed. This design is so smooth, well-angled, and proportioned, yet heavily-armored-and-armed-looking like a starship should be. I especially love your cockpit design using those fairly frustrating pieces. This is a certain win for me over v 1.0, and definately a great MOC in its own right. Fantastic!

The wonky lighting shot makes this all the more epic. This is full of win.

Wow, I saw this on the front page and it is a great looking craft. You show a lot of skill with how you built it. Check out some of my large starfighters and ships. They were mostly under Star Wars and EOS.

Great, a total win. The improvements on version 2.0 are awesome! I wanted to build a Defender or an Anubis myself, but I just have no PERFECT idea for the dongpit. Guess that your solution is the best realisable way of building it. Oh and thanks for using my rocket launcher desing, Iīm feeling very honoured to see it on such an impressive build. Cheers!
