Saleen S5S Raptor Concept
This is my model of the Saleen S5S Raptor concept car. It was intended to be a (somewhat) more affordable performance sports car than the Saleen S7, but was never put into production. While this car reminded me a lot of the Gallardo in some pictures, it is a unique car in many aspects. It is also my first model at this scale to include working steering! Finally, the logo seen in the main picture is actually a mosaic of the saleen logo which i put together after building the car. I hope you enjoy it; please feel free to comment and rate, any comment or suggestion is appreciated!

Under the hood...steering! (shown in detail below)

The engine cover

The engine; not my favorite engine I've made, but I couldn't find any decent pictures of what it is supposed to look like

The headlights, made from a short length of gray tubing on a small antenna

My only Lego Technic character proves to be a good scale for the car (despite being half robot!)

About to get in

Who's that driving the car?

This model features working steering, which is a first for my 16 wide scale cars. I was pleased with the way it turned out, so I've included some pictures of how it works; here the hood, headlights and dashboard are removed

These gears connect the steering wheel to the front wheels

Here's a close up of the steering mechanism

Steering system

The front wheels are made out of a large steering wheel

Wow! I've just finished a 16 wide Saleen, but compared to this its a piece of rubbish! The headlights are a work of art, and the steering is awesome! Absolutely brilliant, I envy your skills.

What a car! This is a stunning piece of work! I love it all but the view of the back stands out for me. Thanks for your comment on my DeTomaso. Any chance of knowing the competition results? Would really like to know how it did ;)

This was immediately recognizable, even from the thumbnail! And this is also one of my favorite modern cars as well! I've seen some of your other creations, but this one shines beyond them all! (But your creations are still awesome - don't worry) And congrats on your working steering! I found out it was real hard to put working functions on lego cars, and yet you, along with every other talented builder I've seen, seem to have mastered the opening doors, engine bays, trunks, etc... and your engine looks great. Oh yeah, and those headlights are just pure genius - I never would have thougt of a design like yours! Truly, this is a fabulous creation! And BTW, the Saleen logo adds an extra nice touch! Keep up the good work! <Komioh Ransack>

Quoting Sven Bode & Jens Matuschek One of the more unusual supercars...when I saw the first pics of the real one a few years ago, I liked the design very much - but seeing these lines perfectly realized in plastic bricks made me love it! If it only were yellow ;-P Bye, Jens
Believe me, I wish as much as you I had enough yellow pieces to build this in yellow, but I build with what I've got. Thanks for all the comments on my cars, by the way, It's good to see you on MOC pages again!

Great car, and excellent representation you have here! I wish the Raptor would have been produced... Such an imaginative and creative design. Back to your car, you represent the smaller details very well, especially the tubing in the headlights, great idea there! Your steering ended up working the same as mine on my DX90, doesn't turn very far, but makes it great for show... :)

This is a awesome model of the real car. It represents it very good. The front with the lights are awesome. The whole car is awesome. I realy like the back and the engine is not your best one, but you said it already. There aren't good pictures of it. The red colour is good, but it would be even better in yellow. But still this is a very good model you've made here.;) keep it up my friend.

Quoting Rolands Kirpis Excelent car! Shape, details, features everything. But I have one question - do the wheels actualy have space to be turned?? This steering system of yours... I've tried something like this, but I always face the problem, that the gap between wheels and wheel arch is too small to actualy turn the wheel.
Well, they do turn a bit, but you're right, the wheel arch is too wide and there's not a whole lot of room for movement. It's mostly just for show
