Spyker C8 Aileron V8
About this creation
This is my first technic car build on MOCpages, which I can finally share on the net after working 3 months on it!

The idea of making an MOC of the C8 Aileron came after I bought the 8297 Offroader set which inspired me to make my own technic car creation. And which model was better suitable than the C8 Aileron, one of Hollands currently most exclusive export products manufactured by the company I did my internship a year ago...

The 8297 set is a nice basis for this MOC. This wasn't only for the primary colors of the set itself, where the dark grey and orange are also typically found in Spyker cars for the exterior and interior. I guess 75% of the MOC build consists of the 8297 set, 15% comes from the 8473 'Nitro race team' set and 10% are some additional parts (extra power functions, wheels + tires, flexible hoses etc.)

So let's get into the details... Functions are:

- Powered driving + steering from Power Functions XL- and M-motor respectively, remotely controlled.
- Working head and rear lights (controlled from Dashboard)
- Full independent suspension
- V8 engine
- Steering wheel rotates with steering
- Opening doors (with damped shock absorbers)
- Opening front and rear hood

First a short movie, showing these functions:

And now some nice pictures:

Just a nice general view of the car

Look how the rear lights gimmick the real lights of the car. I also paid some time on finding nice looking exhausts and designing the diffuser! :D

I just love the orange lego... I did my best to bring the nice C8 Aileron dashboard alive! See the tanned friction pin to control the front and rear lights!

Lights on please...

Not many gears seen from here, which is ofcourse due the absence of a gearbox. I tried it though, but in the end it just didn't work so smoothly with the power functions. I could ofcourse try again by removing the power functions :)

The real car has a lot of glass in the roof which I tried to copy as well, without too much loss in structural rigidity.

I can make a LDraw model (for building instructions), depending on how much people are interested and if I find the time for it...

Hi! Yes, your MOC is really cool! There is no really alternative sets for the 8297. It would be really appreciated if you can provide the instructions and parts list, and add it on Bricklink. This way, we can find the parts not coming from the 8297. Really nice car again! Fred

Quoting Dustin Esau Excellent just excellent, Where can I buy an R/C Lego? I'm really infactuated with the number of R/C Legos I have seen lately and I am thinking about building one. I don't have much exp. with technic so it can't be that hard. Besides that I like a good challenge.
I found it quite hard to get an R/C unit, but they are not impossible to get by. And of course there are some (mostly expensive) sets which have them. The rarest part on this car are the rims actually. I had a friend in Taiwan who translated and ordered the parts for me from a Chinese website :)

Very nice recreation of a fine car. It's probably a touch too wide or short but i always thought the real car was a bit too narrow so you fixed that :)

This is very well done! I like the attention to detail and the overall look of the MOC. It does justice to the real car. Keep it up and welcome to MOCpages!

Whoa. I saw two of these at the Vancouver Auto Show (take a moment to consider that they're rarer than Veyrons) and I can say that this model is just awesome. Seriously accurate. Amazing.

This is impressive regardless of whether this is your first Technic car ever or not, and if it is, it is doubly impressive.

I like this a lot. The Spyker C8 is a very special car and you've done it justice. Always nice to see lots of functions in a car that still looks good, although I think the rear is better than the front.

Superb Technic Supercar; as good, maybe better in fact, that the official LEGO supercar models. Really nice functions, and they all fit in the package neatly enough that you can style it well too - it looks pretty accurate overall! Great job, 5 smiley LEGO-heads out of 5.
