ESB 30th Anniversary Space Slug
This is my entry for Moodswim's ESB 30th Anniversary contest. Not my best work, but I had to contribute since it is my favorite movie.
About this creation

Shot from above showing the narrow escape of the Falcon.

A better close up view of my custom micro Falcon.

Side view.

Awww, look. He has a couple busted teeth from the last space freighter meal.

Wide angle shot showing off my geekness... Star Wars Lego boxes holding up a Star Wars blanket to get the space background.

I like the slug, the rest is a bit too plain (no pun intended) in my opinion, maybe a bit of rocks (a 1x2 slope perpendicular to a cheese slope makes a nice details). The use of the crater baseplate is also great.

WOW! this is amazing was it hard to build the outer wall?

The opening pic is the money maker. Between the "blanket of stars" and the old lunar base plates, I'm done! It's deceptively simple. When I saw the intro pic, I thought "ah, photo shop". When I saw the blanket in the pull back I was astounded. Well done! Like the crater walls. I don’t know what’s more impressive: the simple design, or the fidelity of the image you are able to achieve. Really refreshing. Attack!

My, what excellent work! the Space slug is fantastic, and excellent use of modded bricks for the Falcon. I like how well this turned out, as it is one of the most accurate Star Wars scenes I have seen:)

Very good. I don't think bad of anyone for modding legos I actualy don't like purist builders that much.

Quoting ]S[kyliner__-- ]S[ nice...how do you made the micro-millenium-falcon ??
As appalling as it is to some, I cut and glued stuff together. But I used pieces that were unusable due to pet chewing damage. So no big deal. There is a piece connecting the two dishes together and everything is glued off of that. The only pieces that were uncut were the two 2x2 dishes.

Quoting T. Young wow that is cool. just 1 questiion. what do u use against the wall. sand? either way it looks great.
If you are asking about the mound in front of the wall, that is the plate itself. I used the old moon plates.

Quoting MOODSWIM ! Ha! You beat me to it. This is great! I love the parts usage for the slug (although he's actually tan not gray) and the micro Falcon is priceless. That was also a great (and geeky) way to do a space backdrop. You don't give yourself enough credit because this is pretty cool!
Thanks! I appreciate praise from better builders. I only found one other rendering of this scene and it was more artistic than actual. I would still like to see how you would make it.
