Captain Ahnee's trusty nose shaped spacecraft.
About this creation
The Nasal Avenger is probably my favorite Lego model that I've created. It is also an ongoing project and the Avenger has had plenty of modifications. Overall, I'd say it is my favorite Lego creation because it is so silly yet has a lot of cool features as far as Lego models go.
The idea for the Nasal Avenger came from my early cartoons of a character called Captain Ahnee, a sort of space hippie leading his ragtag crew of hedonistic space explorers. The comics branched out to Lego in fall 2000 when I made my first Nasal Avenger for my Lego comic "Captain Ahnee and the Dipwads." The first Nasal Avenger had the comedically distinctive nose shape but left much to be desired as far as a well made, technically sound space MOC. So I tore the first one apart to make the second version.
Originally, in my storyline this ship was an unarmed light freighter/drop ship for transporting parts and construction crew from orbiting ships to planetary surfaces. Captain Nibs Ahnee and his first officer, Russ Russell, stole the freighter to escape certain death at the hands of the evil Adaloids. The freighter underwent heavy modifications such as weapons, sensors, better engines, and the hemispherical fuel pods on each side that solidify the ship's shnozzy shape. However, Nibs and Russ didn't initially realize this distinction until their new gunner, Mikey Nubbins, took a first look at the ship and said "Hey, it's a big nose!"
As I said, this spaceship is an ongoing project and these pictures will be updated from time to time.

This nose-on view shows the pulsating sensor array at the tip of the nose used to "sniff" out the bad guys (and inspired by the Knight Rider TV series).

A close up view of the topside gun turret. This is probably my favorite feature of the ship.

I made the main engine assembly modular so I could upgrade the Avenger from time to time.

The gun turret by itself. Note the use of rounded bricks in order to enable the turret to rotate freely inside the Avenger.
