My collection
My collect as of the middle of 2010. When you start to collect, everything just goes into one box. As your lego grows you find yourself spending longer trying to find the pieces you need, this is where most people don't know what to do. Their is no right or wrong way to store your lego, just know what your needs are and store them accordingly. I started to put all the same bricks into their own boxes regardless of what colour it was, but I found that when I wanted specific colours I had to sought them out again. As the collection grew I put in their own boxes:- all the plates, roof tiles, windows and doors, wheels, technical, odd bits, etc..... As you get even more you can start and split pieces up again,ie. your roof tiles can be put into different boxes, ie, roof tiles, inverted tiles, odd curves, you can go on and on. Also my plates have been split up into; 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x6, 1x8+, and the; 2x2, 2x3, 2x4, together. Ok I could go on all day here so I shut up and let you look at what I've got so far.
About this creation

Colours are now put together, I find it easier and quicker to use this way.

Fences and arches.

Minifigs, round pieces, radars and 1x2 technical bricks.

Because I use these colours alot I split them again into 1x1, 1x2. 1x3, 1x4 bricks.

All my little boxes are kept together in these drawers.

My bricks are colour coded and kept together.

The lego I don't use very much are stored away in boxes.

Assortment of small pieces I use the most, made easier to find

Windows and doors.

Plates made easier to find.

Roof pieces split up.

You can store lego many ways. The best way I think is having your own room and big see through drawers, but you need money and space. I have to put away my lego after building, so this at the moment serves its purpose. Hope this helps and even if you use a small part of what I said, its been worth it.

Nice lego storage, I've nearly sorted my lego.

Good idea, but when the boxes gets filled to the brim you might find yourself spilling lego all over the place while you're searching for a piece at the very bottom of the box.

That's the beauty of sorting. When that happens, I start and split them again into their own colour. Eventually each and every element will be colour coded and in its own box.

Quoting Space Pirate Nice. It's really well organized. I'll probably store my 1x2 technic bricks in a separate box now. Thanks for the idea ;) Some of the pictures were blurry though.
Blurry what do you mean blurry. he he I know, I have to get a tripod. When I photograph my models I rest the camera on boxes but can't do that from above. Thanks for pointing it out :)

Storage is essential! I'm lucky enough to have a LEGO den, all mine! It's a disaster area right now, as I'm busy sorting a HUGE tub I bought off a kid. Piles of every color, scattered everywhere. If I ever get it organized, I'll have to post some before and after shots. Nice collection, BTW.~H
