The Ferrari F40:
This was a car I hadn't considered building until recently. It turned out to be a bit more of a challenge than i had anticipated, however, I really enjoyed building this car, and I'm pleased with the result. I hope you like it!
About this creation
Some front views:
Side views:
The Back:
Some close ups...Details!
Open Doors:
Interior: This is a bit less detailed than some of my other cars, but the F40 doesn't really have all that detailed of an interior to begin with
The "trunk" opened up: This was one of the main reasons i really wanted to build this car, I love the way the front opens up. I'll admit it would be kind of annoying if my own car were like this, but it sure was cool to build
inside:
The engine cover: Another reason I wanted to build this car, it was a fun challenge to have the back open up while still having a smooth curve around the back wheels.
The engine:
Everything opened up...not much left of the car!
And of course, I couldn't finish this car without making those headlights pop out of the front
Open:
Closed:
UPDATE:
I decided tonight to rebuild several portions of this car to create the F40 LM, a variation of the F40. The main differences are the spoiler, the vents on the hood, the color of the rear diffuser and the headlights.

A totally brilliant, detailed and realistic model, but personally the rims are too large for the tires, but overall a perfectly built Ferrari! |

There is no doubt about it, but you are one of the best car builders on MOCpages! I have a 5-wide F40 on if you want to look at it. |

Hi Ryan, thanks for your comment on my angel. Brick Pop blogged it too, I am very lucky. Hahaha look at my comment below – how embarrassing that I asked you to look at my F40. Well I guess I have learned my lesson. I think that was my first comment on Mocpages. I honestly didn’t know about yours when I was building mine. If I had known I would have probably stolen some of your clever techniques ;). Unfortunately I am really struggling for inspiration at the moment and have no mocs on the go. I am going to dismantle some tonight and I really hope to get that spark of inspiration soon. Hope all is well in your world? |

Wow, that's awesome. A cool model with great details! The opening body parts are great, and I LOVE the three air intakes on the front hood. I think there's no better way to build these in LEGO. |

Ryan Link,
Mine is going to be 16 studs wide too. Right now I'm working on the nose. I can't get the trunk to open that far because the wheels are blocking it.
P.S. I took my Pagani Zonda F apart to make it. I can't work too fast because I bought some stuff on the Internet but they haven't arrived yet. One thing I know for sure... My car won't be as good as yours!! |

I'm building the LM version right now. How many studs wide is this car?? I'm going to borrow your idea for the way the trunk opens. And of course I'll give you the credit.
Awesome, I'd love to see another F40! This car is 16 studs wide, and go ahead and use whatever helps with your design. thanks for the comments! |

This is wonderfull work. There are many Ferrari's around, and as a true Tifosi i tend to look at them really detailled. Recently i have seen some prime examples, like the 575 GTC from LegoExotics, but this one is another winner for sure. It looks like Pininfarina found some bricks himself, and reproduced his masterpiece. Thumbs up for this masterpiece! |

Excellent model and extremely accurate. The boot and bonnet open perfectly and i love your air intakes. I have made one spookily similar but I think I will have to improve mine after seeing yours. Mine was made from the f430 challenge plus a few extra pieces. I would love to hear your comments on mine. I have also asked to join this group but still waiting a reply. |

This is absolutely incredible. This is my favorite Ferrari! I've always wanted to build a large F40, but I never got around to it. This is so good that I do't even dare try to beat it :) Nice work on the details, colors, shape, everything! And the LM version is nice too! One question though, how did you make the pop up headlights without having an awkward gap behind them? That's a problem I'm facing on the current car I'm building. Once again, great work! Truely a masterpiece! 10/10 :)
Thank you for such a wonderful comment! To answer your question, the headlights were a bit of a nightmare; if you look at the pictures where the hood is tipped forward and you can see underneath, there's a system of connector pieces and beams. Essentially the headlights are connected to the hood by a double hinge to allow a greater range of motion. |

What a coincidence...haha, I was just watching a 1990's Dolph Lundgren action flick named "Joshua Tree". In this high packed action movie there's a car chase between George Segal (Lamborghini Countach) and Dolph Lundgren (F 40!). The proportions of the wheels are well done, just like everything else. I think this is just the perfect outscaled match for Lego to bring this model out as one of the Ferrari classics. One more time: how cool and what a surprise! BTW: I made some great progress with building my Ferrari 599 GTB four seater. Yesterday I did some modifications to hide the predominating wires of the PF drivetrain and steering. I think now it's time to build on the packaging of the car and see how it looks with the four door and larger roof features. |

Exceptional build - this is in a different league to LEGO's own official Ferrari sets! One of the best LEGO Ferrari's I've ever seen, and even better as it's not simply a re-hash of an existing set. Amazing job, 10/10 |
