The Crucifier Mobile Anti-Air Turret - It was created in late may for my 2110 AD Army(a build contest I am playing with my nephews), specifically for the L.S.A. (Lego Stud Army) faction. I wanted to do something with wheels, and also have an opportunity to do some conscious greebling.
About this creation
Following the unfavorable result of U.R.A.N.G.'s "Control the skies, Control the War" campaign, The L.S.A. (Lego Stud Army) has announced their solution to a growing problem. The L.S.L.A has ordered 10 brand new Crucifier Mobile Anti-Air turret's. Lego Intelligence Scientist Dr. Blockhead tells us more of this vehicle.
"Well, the Crucifier is really a revolutionary device for the L.S.A. and the war for the skies. Before, a L.S.A. infantryman was constricted to throwing studs at aircraft in order to protect himself. The Crucifier sports a sextet of high speed projectile cannons, and a state of the art moving stud detection system.
You can imagine the amount of control and security a squad of Crucifiers would allow the L.S.A."
With the addition of such a powerful vehicle to the L.S.L.A. army, one can only wonder what direction the army will take with the device. We asked L.S.A. General Studs for the answer.
"I suppose the answer to that question can be summed up with a few words...you ever wonder what happens when you die? Well, I can't answer that, but the Crucifier is going to make that very clear for alot of U.R.A.N.G. Dregheads."
Very clear indeed. This has been LNN news, Good Night. - Tom Blokaw, LNN News
The design for the Crucifier comes more from my desire to use specific parts, than from anything well thought out. Specifically, the large ball turret, and a track wheel (underneath the body, directly behind the winch). It is a 3 wheeled design, the wheels under the ramp being longer in order to support the platform(platform was inspired from a Warhammer 40K Basilisk).
In my opinion the turret is the coolest part of this MOC, the inspiration came as a lightbulb idea after just waking up, orginally it was going to be a spider walker. The vehicle was made to work for the turret, not the other way around.
Some more pics of turret above, front ,back, ready for action!! and relaxed mode.
As stated in the introduction, I had just studied some LegoŽ greebling, and wanted to try some new techniques, so this was my first shot at conscious greebling. The First shot is thought to be a hydraulic regulator & power coupling, the back of the turret behind the control pit has some exhaust pipes, an emergency shut off switch, ammo belt, and a power regulator (The projectile cannons use some sort of energy ignitor).
The top of the gun has the "Moving stud detection system" and other various.
The grill & winch, and the cockpit, very basic, I won't spend many pics on it.
