Lego EVE ONLINE Tristan
From the MMORPG Eve Online.
About this creation
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Tristan, I've posted links for comparison, the likeness for the first picture can be found here.

The Tristan is a frigate class ship from the MMORPG EVE ONLINE, created by CCP games. The frigate class is smallest in the Eve universe, amounting to just a tiny fraction of the sizes of the larger cruiser, battlecruiser, battleship,
(Right-front view)and capital ship classes. They are also the weakest ships in Eve, and are generally regarded as starter vessels. In the right hands, utilizing its speed and size, they can be lethal for any who would underestimate them.

Ships in Eve Online normally have very interesting, nontraditional designs, and the Tristan is no exception. Player base is divided into 4 different races, Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari, and Gallente, each with their own distinct styles. The Tristan is of(left-back view) Gallente design, which tend to be very rounded, smooth, yet typically asymetric. To my knowledge it is the only ship to resemble a fat man, which is also its nickname. Extremely underused, it can be very versatile and in my opinion, one of the coolest looking ships in the game.

Now for the MOC. This was created in late May 2010, probably in my teens now in MOCS. It is the most difficult MOC I've made, mostly because I had to adhere to the design of the ship. I think it is a pretty good representation for a LegoŽ, although I couldn't figure out how to get the inner body quite as curvy as I wanted. The right arm plate and turrets are constructs where I had to get a little creative. The assembly I think turned out the best is the engine module.

As stated above, Eve ship designs can be a little different. Instead of a traditional cockpit, Eve pilots are inserted into the ships inside of a windowless capsule called a pod, earning them the nickname "Pod Pilots" or "Capsuleers". Because of this, its hard to pinpoint the exact location of the pod on the Tristan. It presumably could be held here, or perhaps in the direct center of the ship.

I'm pretty happy with the overall outcome, again, I couldn't get it quite as
smooth as I would have liked, and it is a little fatter than it should be, but it was alot of fun creating one of the ships that I'd been flying in game for 2 years. Skillwise, it helped my Mecha skills more than the spacecraft genre, as the legs and arms demonstrate.

That's it! Thank you for coming in, and please rate/and or comment.

Quoting Maciek Wal Great! Though I think a minmatar ship would have been easier!
I agree, or at least look better in Lego...I'm slowly building my brown & tan collection for Amarr & Minmatar, and my light & dark bley for larger Gallente & Caldari...I'll have to sit down and try again here at some point. Thanks for the comment.

Quoting Big Jim Huge fan of the Tristan; my favorite ship is the Sacrilege! My EVE toon is Mister Incredible; look me up. Nice looking model!
Nice, Sacrilege would definitely be doable in Lego. I'm a Hyperion man myself....but I would be nuts to try that one. Thanks for the comment!

Quoting Alex Mac I actually don't know what the Tristan is, besides Tristan Amaya the builder, but I REALLY like the build! It looks really sturdy..the blue and blay look good. I think it would be a good idea to put a comparison pic, that would help me, well, compare.
Thanks for the comment Alex ; ) I put 1 picture at the bottom for you and others, other comparison pics are linked near the top of the page. If it continues to be a problem, I'll post the linked pics at the bottom with the other one, take care.
