Eccentric and reclusive artist Salvador Warhol designed the unusual vehicle he named the Star-Flower in response to criticism of the 'pod' design of single manned vehicles.

During an argument on the subject at a charity dinner he produced a quick sketch and presented it to the Insectoid Ambassador requesting their shipyards get right on with building it! His intention was to show that small and circular could indeed be beautiful. Unfortunately the napkin had a small amount of jelly on it and was eaten by the surprised ambassador whilst returning to the embassy. The Insectoid shipyards later built the Star-Flower from the Ambassadors memory, 'He kinda remembered it looked a bit like this.'

Fortunately for the Insectoids Mr. Warhol is largely divorced from reality and fell instantly in love with the strange, cumbersome and incredibly expensive vehicle presented to him (totally ignoring the low cost/small size aspects of pod-design). Mr Warhol soon got fed up with being laughed at behind his back and was last seen heading into Crysilon space, rumours have recently begun circulating of a star shaped Crysilon warship, but we may never know Salvador Warhols fate.

I consider this the first ship of my 'adult' building, it bears no resemblance to anything I built as a child and uses techniques I only found out about as an online AFOL. As the above backstory hints I have future plans for the Star Flower!

Built:2001
Current status: intact.

Five pointed stars are not easy to make look good, the joins between sections have to be filled in carefully.

Note one of the landing gears was not deployed properly so it's leaning - I should take some more pictures!

From beneath you can see some of the constrution problems - plus it looks pretty!

It doesn't really have a front, I always though it would cartwheel through space like a catherine wheel...

Of course the pilot would have to counter rotate to avoid becoming a paste on the walls.

   Peekaboo!

He gets out on his little flying scooter - then he can't figure out why people are sniggering? How out of touch with reality is he?

Pretty good. I have one question though: Can a person sit in each of the five pods?

If I had the kind of odd but dangerous eye for construction you do, I know I could make the Space Hippies into the dominant faction in the LEGO galaxy. Good work.

There are a few legitimate gods on MOCpages (for fear of expanding their already dangerously swollen heads I will not name them, but we know who they are) and I believe the time has come for them to make room on Mount Olympus for you. All of your creations show the maddeningly high level of originality, coolness, and sweet building skills that elevate you above us mere mortals and into their hallowed ranks. Am I embarrassing you with my gushing? I've certainly embarrassed myself. Pardon me while I go take a cold shower.
