Alien Fighter Drone
An unknown alien fighter drone. It carried no pilot that could be descerned, and was biomechanoid in nature. Forgive the blurry pics, but this is another old one.
About this creation
This model drew inspiration from many sources. I built it shortly after Mass Effect came out and I finished the game. It's loosely inspired by:
1. A lobster
2. Sovereign from Mass Effect
3. Outlaw Star style grappler ships
4. The Invid from Robo-Tech

The "wings" fold out into grappler arms with large armor shearing claws. This part was some what inspired by a lobster and by the anime "Outlaw Star".

The AFD could move its arms independantly and with great flexablity and precision.

The AFD could even stand on its claws for landing and surface movement.

A shot of the belly and the unknown drive systems. How this thing functioned is beyond us.

Great concept. I definitely see some potential for upgrades. Maybe make it piloted fighter or probe. It has great playability.

I'm kind of surprised this one got as many hits as it did. I didn't think it was all that great, but then again, creators do tend to judge their own creations the hardest.

Aww, it's like a tiny, blue Val Varo. <3

a lot of influences here, the walking mode reminds me of the vulture droids, the open wing form looks a little like the new cylon raiders. overall it does look both alien and multi-purpose.

I know. It was a joke after all. I'd hate to see a swarm of these closing in, though.

Quoting Carter W. So if this is based on Sovreign(loosly, I know,)Can it plow right on through a Turian crusier if it's pissed?
Well first, it isn't actually based in the Mass Effect universe. Second, it's built to minifig scale. It's a fighter craft after all.

Cool shape, but this thing could be tiled up a lot to improve it.

Well done. Good idea and execution of making the jointed parts still look aerodynamic when contracted.
