TITAN Class Heavy Defense Mech
New from Dawn Forge, the TITAN is a heavily armored mech designed for defensive combat. Due to its thick armor, relatively low firepower, and selective weaponry, the TITAN is ideal for neutralizing swarms of weaker assault units.
About this creation
My first Dawn Forge creation, it took me about 3 months of building (off and on) to complete it. It was a fun build and I got to use techniques I’ve never tried before. Special thanks to Brian for the theme, enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The majority of the TITAN is covered in a unique style of shielding consisting of a 10 cm layer of Depleted Uranium, sandwiched between two 8 cm plates of titanium. The high strength of the titanium resists heavy and continuous blows, while the dense uranium helps the ductile titanium to retain its shape. The weight of the armor makes the TITAN fairly slow, but on defense, mobility is not a major priority.

Look at him run!!! (or at least take one step)

Air intake grate for the cockpit

The nuclear reactor positioned on the backside of the body was designed by Shell as an alternate energy source for large industrial machines. The engineers of the TITAN saw the design and tried it out for military purposes. The reactor is composed of six containment vessels to store energy, these vessels are located on the outside of the mech because various internal components were melting during design tests due to the intense heat created by the reactor.

Free Wi-Fi!

Flood lights! In case of inclement weather.

Rocket Tubes!
The TITAN can fire up to 24 rockets during a battle; reloading is quick and easy, but not when you’re being shot at. The rocket drawers utilize a fairly universal launch system and the diameter of the interior tubes can be adjusted, allowing for a variety of different rockets/missiles to be used.

Corporate Sponsorship! These things get expensive.
Oh yeah, that’s a camera.

The side mounted miniguns have 8 barrels each, with a firing speed of approximately 3,840 rounds per minute. The ammunition used is a small tungsten rod that measures 12 cm long and 22 mm in diameter. The muzzle velocity is 720 meters per second.

This is a view of the underside of the body on the right and the removed cockpit on the left (normally a pilot is sitting in it). Notice the gears? And did you notice that nob on top (not seen in picture) that is horribly out of place? That nob is used to turn the miniguns, a completely useless feature but its good practice fitting a system of large gears into a confined area.

Pilot for scale

Well, that's it. This is definitely my favorite creation so far (even if you don't like, which is ok). I hope it was entertaining, I'll probably have more Dawn Forge in the future.

Thanks for looking!

Zane, it doesn't make a lot of sense that you leave your page all messed up due to the crash. Why don't you simply repost, and if that doesn't work remove the broken stuff. It's like walking around with a broken leg saying, that big fall wrecked me, but you can check me out before the fall in this polaroid? LOL c'mon dude!

Persoanlly, I think this is one of your best works. Good job on the gearing inside, it adds a nice play feature, wondeful overall design and an inspiration for other mech building. Great work!

I, too, didn't realize just how big this was until most of the way through. This is immense, and immensely awesome, especially for a first build in the theme.

Remarkable MOC! I did not realize the monstrosity until the last pic. Lots of fine details all over. Can't go wrong with corporate sponsorship. XD

Very nice. Also reminded me of the robot in Robocop (as far as I can remember).

Whoops, egg on my face. I must have missed your roosterpit shot the first time I read through this. Well, then, I dare say it's perfect!

I love it. In fact, I agree with your attempt at industrial steel - sometimes, accent colors distract from a build. The proportions here are really excellent, and the scale is impressive. I'd like a roosterpit shot, but that's just because I'm greedy. I'm surprised this doesn't have more ratings - I feel it's very deserving. Those slopes running the length of the primary leg assemblies result in a really pleasant repeated-element effect. Really stunning work.

Quoting Manuel K Sick mech. Great details and design, but in my opinion it's missing something fancy, like some lime green parts, to break the full black color scheme. Just an idea.
yeah i know what you mean, I was going for the industrial steel look. ill probably use more accent colors next time. thanks for the input!

Quoting Jay O'Bee Great minds think alike! I recently linked up one of my creations to the aluminium oxynitride (transparent aluminum) page on Wikipedia just like you did with depleted uranium. Sci-fi mixed with real science for the win!
Haha nice! yeah I don't want people to think im just making it up

This is one of the coolest mechs I've seen in a long time! I love that you can't tell it's Lego. I love the technique you used on the sides of the legs and am still trying to figure it out.
