robot from CG animated short film Burning Safari
About this creation
This rendition is my little tribute to the cute & hilarious robots in the CG animated short film "Burning Safari".
The film is a student work from the french school GOBELINS, and was created by Vincent Aupetit, Florent de la Taille, Jeanne Irzenski, Maxime Maleo, Aurélien Predal, and Claude-William Trebutien. "Thank you" to all of them for a great show!
Visit www.burningsafari.com to watch the film.

It seems strange to be "reviewing" my own MOC, but I just wanted to post some of the feedback I have received by email from the creators of the original film "Burning Safari". The film's creators are French, so please forgive their broken english:

From Claude-William Trebutien: This is incredible!!! I love! I personnaly design the mecha, so I' m very happy to see him!...He' s so beautiful, and so similar, it was not easy! Excellent!!!...If you made another work, if you want to make the monkey (his name is Jean-Eudes!), please give news to us!
Congratulations, what you do is the most beautiful fan-art we can have! thank you!

From Vincent Aupetit: thank you very much for your enthousiasm and outstanding work! We had seen previous or other versions, more simple, of our robot in LEGO over Brickshelf.com, but yours is truly astonishing! Is it my imagination, or some of the pieces are truly articulated? All my congratulations and thanks again, it's amazing to see that kind of reaction to our movie. I just didn't knew LEGOs had evolved in such ways since my childhood.

From Florent de La Taille: you're work is just amazing! I love it, he can just find all the details of our robot, the leg are incredible! Kid I was really mad of Lego, and perhaps if I didn't draw, I actually try to make some stuff in Lego, just like you! The best things we can get by making this little movie is to inspire others people, then tank you so much! You just prouve me that we ca make some real masterpiece with Lego, congratulations!

That's exactly like the original (close enough). I know it's not your fault, but I think the head's too plain on the front and sides. the legs almost push it up to 5 smiles, but not quite, great legs. |
