A rapid deployment troop dropship equipped with anti-personnel weaponry under the cockpit. Well armoured and agile the Grendal is the choice of the Rapid Anti-Insectoid Defence Force (RAID-Force) and is often seen at Insectoid incursion sites coming to the rescue of Human Colonists.

Built: 2002
Current Stauts: Dismantled.

The Grendal was the first ship I really started to use a lot of Studs Not On Top (SNOT) construction on.

I still really like the cockpit shape and I may re-use it on a more heavily armed gunship vehicle as I think it might work quite well.

I suppose this whole MOC was partially inspired by the Soviet 'Hind' Helicopter gunship.

It's really ugly from the side, I wish I'd put a something near the rear to balance it out a bit more.

The doors open, otherwise it wouldn't be much of a dropship!

   Lots of engines.

From above you can see the magnets on the wing tips. Why magnets?

So the wings can clip together of course!

The troops. I could probably have got a couple more in there at a push.

Underside. I liked the guns too, I guess I should have left it intact!

The retro jets for slowing the dropship:

turn into landing gear as it touches down.

That's it, wish I'd taken better pictures now as this is still one of my favourite MOCs!

This deserves more than an average of 3. I love the cockpit design and cargo bay. Not to mention the lovely blue grey color scheme. Almost reminds me of the helicopters from the old command and conquer games I used to play.

It's rather odd that the entire wing has to lift up for troop deployment, but other than that, excellent. The weapons are awesome. the cockpit supreme. Because of sheer envy, I'm now turning green. A poem by Hans.
