In which seven men compete for love and lots of LEGO.
About this creation
This page was relaunched on 7/25/10. Some proper photos of the Duke's grand ballroom. Enjoy!

Once upon a time, there lived a Great Duke. The Duke had explored and conquered much of the Islander world and accumulated the largest collection of the world's most precious resource: LEGO. Every builder in the region lusted after the Duke's collection.

Some years passed and the Duke grew old. He had no son, but had a beautiful daughter. One day, the Duke held a grand ball. At this ball, his daughter would choose a husband from the local suitors, who would become heir to the great Collection.

Countless men showed up to impress the young woman with their LEGO building muscles. However, the daughter was bored by their lack of uniqueness, lack of creative flair.

Just when all hope seemed lost, seven men burst through the door weilding torches and weapons. The suitors scattered at the sight of the fierce mob, but the daughter stared in awe; these men had style, had talent.

Then the Duke said, "Well, gentlemen. It would seem my daughter has taken a liking to you. There is no reason you cannot court her, but remember, in the end, there can be only one. You must build for her love...and my bricks"
...and so there shall be only one...and it's Wes Pitter!

*on a side note, I would like to add that the fig with the 2x2 brick for a head would be my new sigfig.
Final entry for the "Mob Rules" contest.
Congratulations Wes!

Great story focused on Lego, and a quality of build that can compete with Phipson,Young and Ludgonious, congrats on a very nice MOC !

The pictures are MUCH better than the original. I think, despite all the amazing detail and architecture, that my favorite part was how you handled that chandelier! 5/5! |

Hah this is just an incredible, mind boggling creation. I don't even know where to begin! My favorite parts have to be the curved window design and the way you design the floor tiling. Awesome job! |

Oh, wow. I really need to make a sig-fig. I've seen myself represented many different ways. My buddy icon isn't even helpful anymore, since that's my son. Hey, this is great! I can't help but think you'd have beat me with these pictures. I didn't realize how wonderful or large this set really is. Nice job.
I took the fig from your father's day post, which was hilarious by the way.

So, it's later, when you gonna tell us about your new SiggyFiggy, you blockhead?!~H
Well, I feel like making a sigfig post after making that biography post would be too egocentric even for me. So just know the one rule for my sigfig: head must be a 2x2 yellow brick...clothing optional. My visage shall remain an enigma to you all. |

Great work! Is the room based on an actual place, or just imagination?
I had Disney's Beauty and the Beast ballroom in the back of my mind while I built this. Clearly I can't quite achive the grandiose effect of that, but I tried.

Rough luck on the camera Alex, you have my sympathies. Unfortunately i'll be judging based on quality of photos! Hahahaha, just kidding (my photos arn't great with my camera, never mind without). Love the chandelier, the floor, the windows. I'm strangely drawn to the image of all the repetitive guys lined up. Hope to see those better photos soon. |

As one of the Mob Rulers overseeing this tournament, I declare that this competitor should not be penalized for camera phone pictures. Of course, since I have no real power who cares what I think.
This is a lovely build -- floor, chandelier, and the balconies caught my eye, and that large window is nice too. Love the story angle to this and the cliffhanger.
Now as to the blockhead: It's gotta be hard finding a baseball cap! |

Let this be a lesson to all of you that were DQ'd because of camera issues. You don't need a fancy 70 MP camera to get your entry posted. Any camera will do. Anywho, the idea is nice and simple and the build is magnificent! Some brilliant techniques in there. Good luck! |

As Tim Gunn would say...make it work, people! I'll look forward to better pics at some point, but meanwhile, great job on the ballroom. Love the chandelier and the large window. And some nice techniques on the floor, as well! |

Chin up, pal. Your little mishap makes for a laughable anecdote and many builders will likely be able to relate. At least you can say you left your camera at your girlfriend's house, and not at a LAN party or a World of Warcraft tourney. Resolution may have been an issue, but that was not under your control. You mastered the variables by putting forth a strong build and it seems you were able to get decent lighting on your side. |

Beautiful scenery. I'm amazed at the floor pattern, and of course the chandelier is inspired. But I was left wondering...whom will she pick? I hope more of the story is coming. |

Despite the camera issues, those pics don't look ALL that bad. For a camera phone, it's pretty decent work! For the build and story... AWESOME! I'm guessing she chosses you (and your new sigfig) in the end. That grand hall was inspired! Love the window and overall presentation! You guys are really knocking it out of the park with this final category! Good luck! ~ Chris. |
