Why red? because red pwns blue, and red along with blue is a required color to make purple, people choose one of those two to make theyr covenant vehicles, and I think red is way cooler (it has always been my favorite color), so, there ya go.
This allowed me to pack more detail, have less studs, and make a better shape, as far as I have seen, no other banshee has a bottom piece like it should, just flat ones with pieces in the top. in this one the top is connected to the body from the sides, it has no base, everything is SNOT.
Also, I will use bumps on the top when LEGO releases a better piece for it, many but those bumps it does have, but they are WAY too angular, and don't for the shape right, not even from the sides, so I decided to soncentrate on making the shape of the side, since I have the pieces to make it, the top is very sleek from doing that.
In conclusion, it's just that most are very angular and not curvy enough, my advice is too try more techniques to make it more curvy, SNOT always helps.
By the way, those pieces in the sides that have slices, at first I didn't know if they were lego, but I never collected megabloks or any other brand, and I have seen it's use on brickshelf some times, so I think it's safe to assume it's lego.
And if it isn't i would have put just another studless plate in there, just to show I did have a substitute.
Stock footage. By the way, if all the talk about SNOT seemed like bragging, sorry, i was just commenting that i tought a lot of banshees use the same techniques and turn out very square/ angular, so I tried to use different ones, and even my old banshee is crap (the page is removed now).
nice work! a shame the real thing isn't this color, it looks a lot better than purple. :P a few recommendations I'd make (not sure if any of them are even possible): first off, try making the top part a different color. you'll notice that real banshees have something along the lines of a window/viewport thing. second, make the steering fins on the back a bit smaller, and try to add the little notch in the middle. third, I'd try making the plasma cannons a bit more detailed. anyway, excellent work. this is definitely one of the best Banshees out there.
"the pieces with slices you're talking about are Mega Blok"
Really? dang, my box is stained with megablocks, oh well, forgive the blasphemy, you can remove a smiley face out of the rating, hehe, I'm still proud of it tough.
Thanks for all the comments guys! (and I'm replying here because i don't want to post the pics again for edting the page).
Wow... I missed this earlier. This is a really good MOC. I like the coloring alot too; Red>Blue. This is one of the best Banshees I've ever seen, and alot of people make Banshees. You've got the shaping perfect, the implementing of pieces superb, and the guns; totally original. The only possible way it could be better is if it were purple, which is of course out of the question, and maybe some detail decals, but the Banshee is pretty slick anyway, so not much detail is needed. 5/5, keep it up!
u wanna know something really weird, out of all my legos, dark red is the color i have the most, then comes black, then gray, i only a lot of little blue pieces, this banshee is awesome, red beats any color
