The Ford Escort Mk2, a legendary rally car since the 1970s and popularized by rally drivers such as Colin McRae and Hannu Mikkola. To this day, the Mk2 escort is the most commonly used car for rally racing across the world because of the high production numbers and low cost. There are many different varieties used, such as custom-built rally cars to the more specialized RS1800s used by the Ford Racing team. My version is inspired by McRae's flashback version used in recent years with the Red / Black color scheme. Only mine however has a vibrant yellow and orange stripe. This is my most detailed and carefully made car to date, so I'd enjoy your comments, thanks!
About this creation
Front view. Notice the fog lamps. Most Escorts had 4 fog lights in this vertical position. One reason I chose to make this a 1978, is the blue Ford oval emblem on the front. Earlier Escorts just had silver "FORD" lettering.
Side view. I absolutely love this picture!
Rear view. Check out those new 1x2 cheese plates on the spoiler tips!
All open, hood, doors, and small trunk.
2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine. This particular one is turbocharged and with a custom injection system.
Rear interior. Roll cage, Fire-Suppression system, fuel cell, etc.
Front interior. The hose from the rear fire extinguisher latches onto the co-drivers seat. There is also a small hand-held extinguisher under the dashboard that swings out for easy access.
I also built a micro 4-wide version, neat eh?
Action shot of the car taking flight off a large dirt jump.
This is how I made the jumping photo, it's simply the car propped up on blocks, then I edited them out. I left this picture alone because it would have been too difficult to edit the background.
Rally racing legend Colin McRae puts the Escort to the test.
If McRae drove that Escort any harder I reckon the wheels would have fallen off! Great job btw!

Hey Dylan, great car once again, but I wanted to tell you about my new LDD '79 escort Mkll. Its kinda like yours exept I started with greg thompsons unfinished vesion. I managed to make the model about 150 bucks but when i make the money to buy it ill post it.....But mine doesnt have a roll cage, and more importantly my Dad wont let me buy "such a waste of money" :P
I make supercars and Japanese-influenced modern sports cars, but after viewing this amazing model, I really want to make something similar. I was thinking an old Japanese model like a '71 Skyline or AE86 :) Great work, this is definately your best model so far, I'm so keen for your next masterpiece. 10/10 - Rhys
My first thought upon seeing this was, "Nice paint job!" You also did a great job with the shaping, the roll cage, the interior...pretty much everything, really. The coloring on the mini version is great too.

Dylan is back and how!!...This is again your one of Your best! al your things are best!
Excellent! I saw a diecast of this a long time ago while in Great Britain- I almost bought it, but it made me think about building one myself. You beat to the build, obviously, but you did an excellent job! If I build one of my own, it will definitely be noted that inspiration was from your great model! Now to the car... First off the body is spot on, next- I love the graphics that you put on this car-just makes it that much cooler. The rear looks really good- I love the addition of the blue 1x1 round for the logo-just a nice easy little detail. Love all the exterior, and interior details. That engine is really cool and detailed. The interior- AMAZING- Love that rollcage work- very clean-built. As always, love all the opening features- wish people would do this more often. Oh, by the way, awesome car! Keep building! -Anthony Dunne
One of favourite cars ever (didn't know that you knew about these in the USA!) and my favourite model from you ever too!! The looks brilliant - the best model on MOCpages in ages. 10/10 but maybe an 11, as I need to differentiate this as I like it so much! : )
