This is my first train. Actually, it is a tram. I built this on special request. BKV, or "Budapest Transport Limited" company wanted a LEGO model of their new tram. They actually approached LEGO Hungary to have one built but LH turned down the offer. I told BKV it would be impossibe to model this tram in LEGO bricks but I decided to give it a try. I built it in MLCAD first, and when I was certain that it the design would work, I ordered the parts and built it in real life. I decided to concentrate on the shape, so I used non-transparent "windows". A lot of thinking went into the pantograph design but the biggest challenge was building the drivers cabin. I still have to figure out a coupling system for the tram, right now the cars are not connected, so the tram can only be used as a static model. It has two 9V train motors and the cars are on wheels, so otherwise the tram could probably run on train tracks without problems.
I have MLCAD designs of a lot of my stuff. The Combino actually designed in MLCAD so I could order the excact quantity of parts. At that time I wasn't familiar with LSynth so the bent yellow tubes are not modelled properly, not to mention that I finally converted it to have some quick and dirty coupling, allowing it to take turns during our events. But the internal design is essentially same in the original plan and the actual model.
if you could have taken a pic of underneath it would have answered a couple of questions, but,i ll wait until you show the final version,of course i d like it better with transparent windows!,i have a hard time figuring how it would stop you,i have great respect for your talent!,good work, and good luck!
