First of all. Inception: hands down, probably the best movie of the last five years. What other movie could get you to question reality after watching it? After I saw it opening weekend I just had to make a vignette or diorama about it. After finally getting around to take pictures here it is.
About this creation
Here's a view of the multi level vignette. Nothing super complex going on here, but I like the look.
Here's the bottom level: "reality" and Leonardo DiCaprio sleeping in a reclining chair.
The middle level is the first dream in the city where the team has to fight off the private army of Fischer's mind.
The top level is the second dream with the fortress in the mountains.
Quoting Joel Z
great! but shouldn't they be flipped?
I don't know what you mean, but i made a much improved Inception vignette tower: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/256742 This one was hastily made the day after I saw the movie in theaters and is not as good.
Really great work, the third level is definitely my favorite, in both the movie and this tower. Although I'm pretty sure the plane was reality, it's the built that really counts, and this is awesome. :)
on the plane was the reality, in the rain fighting fischers private army was the first level, at that hotel was the second level, then it was the place in the snow, then it was limbo, then it was that other place in limbo where cobb talks to the old guy. any way this is a great diorama, its cool.
I'm gonna come back and do a more detailed review here, because I was in a rush when I commented. The details here are all excellent, it has a great sense of motion and action. My only complaint is that I would have rather had the levels going downward further into the subconscious rather than riding upwards from reality. Nitpicks aside, this a great build, with really nice concept and detail work. My hat to you!
Actually, there were four levels of dream worlds. First there was the city, then the hotel, then the icy mountain, and THEN limbo. I would love to see this re-worked to contain the hotel sequence, which was arguably the scene of some of the most fantastic sequences in the movie! Also, technically speaking, this all went on whilst they were in the airplane, so the base level isn't quite accurate, but still very nicely constructed nonetheless! Great job!
