Dawn Forge Pelican
This is the bulky hybrid mutant spawned from the love making of Brian's Dawn Forge and Halo's Pelican Drop-ship
About this creation
Well the above sentence pretty much explains it. Due to an unforeseen family road trip to Wisconsin I had to throw this baby together in three days, because of that some areas are rushed and sloppy, oh well.

So I know you are thinking "yet another lego pelican", but this one is kinda unique. First of all, this is the only pelican out there that I know of (correct me if I'm wrong) that is generally studless. I thought the lego community deserved some quality build without little bumps all over it. However I slapped the Halo community in the face and built this with the lean, bulky look of Brian's Dawn Forge theme, instead of trying to completely emulate the pelican design (this is, after all, MOCpages).

So without further ado, let's dissect this bird.

Above is the Pelican from the front, this picture turned out better than I thought it would. Everyone and their mother uses that windscreen for the pelican, I originally tried to be unique with something else but this just works too well.

Bird's-eye view. If it weren't for the light bley striping on the engines, this would be completely dull, but now its just a little dull. I stole some techniques I used on my TITAN, which were probably stolen from other people in the first place.

Back shot

So another thing I noticed, all the other pelicans out there are built with studs on top for the most part, and nobody has done a great job with sloping the front of the ship, and by nobody I mean most people. That being said, this picture is retarded.

Underside of the front wing. The little thruster guy actually looks like the one on the pelican from Halo 3! I haven't completely butchered all the details...

This shows the tiny amount of functionality in the rear engines.

Cockpit, with keyboard for no reason. But at least I gave him the good lego keyboard with all the keys and not that crappy one that is missing T,D, and L. Come on lego!! Those are important letters! You kept Q in the top row but got rid of T?! In case you have no idea what im talking about, look here.

Cargo-area-thingy. I'm sure there is a better name for this part of the ship...
Anyways it seats eight, and is equipped with two medipacks.

This is another view of all eight soldiers. Notice the "watch your step, cause it's about a four foot drop and there isn't any ladder" paint.

Well I hope you enjoyed my first (and probably only) attempt at a Halo creation. If you could tell me what you think that would be awesome.

I don't know what a pelican is, but excellent attention to detail, and you've gotta love the infantrymen inside.

Excellent! A vary good replica of the Halo Pelican. It's the best LEGO Pelican I have seen so far, and I don't mean just because it doesn't have studs on top, (I don't really judge a moc on that) this one replicates it the best too. Most of the Pelicans I've seen arn't shaped right, the're just two big wing parts atached to a long tube section with tail and cockpit, but yours, well words can hardly describe it. It is defanatly the most deatailed and athentic Pelican out there, Epic Job!!

Realy well built, still looks like a pelican but has soime of your own ideas as well, making it completely unique. The other thing that makes it unique is how awesome it is compared to the usual halo mocs. Only improvement woudl be the 'cargo-area-thingy' - it just seems so empty. Keep up the brilliant work!

Not bad. The top front angle leading to the window is at a little to big of a drop though. but other than that, it is a verry good design and look. Keep on brickin!

Quoting Jonathan Ladner Best pelican ive seen :D Could you please explain what exactly dawn forge is? Ive seen people talking about it or labbeling something as it but i cant find any clear description or what it actually is :S
Well here is a link to the overall guidelines for building Dawn Forge creations.. I'm not sure if an official back story has been created but basically it's a sort of military faction that rose to power after the second American Civil War (in the future obviously). Anyways it's mostly mechs and tanks that are big and bulky, with lots of armor and heavy weapons. http://www.mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=1648&topicid=4230

This could use some more work, I think... the side profile looks a bit too bulky, and I think this could use a bit more Dawn Forge in it. If all else fails, stick on some gatling cannons. No matter the build, though, the idea is pure genius!

Quoting Brandon Mathis It's great! I also see there's no door at the cockpit, so I need to ask what the door is leading to from the room where the people sit? Id very much like a description, unless you could possible take a photo...
Well to make it brief, that door leads nowhere! I have three different stud directions in the middle (right behind the cockpit), so structurally it gets pretty complex in there, so that door would just lead to a labyrinth of pieces. To sum up, it's just decoration.

Wow, 5/5! I see how you must have based it of of the CE Pelican, For the CE Pelican is the one with the health packs in the Aft Compartment, and the number of seats is a dead giveaway, nice detail, and the scale is pretty close too, all your missing is this as an entry into brickworld, and the aft and chin mounted-machine gun turret.

And Mark, by the way, your one of my favorite builders. U to Halo Pelican Man..(sorry, forgot how to spell your name). Nice work. Now I've gotta check out your other creations. Happy building!

Very nice! I can't speak for BK, but personally I think you did a great job capturing some of the essentials of the Dawn Forge concept. It's inspired by Halo to some extent, anyway, so the mix is appropriate. Great to see the no-studs approach, and a solid home run on the form. Killer work!

Personally, I'm not a Halo fan, but I'm definitely a Dawn Forge fan, and this is pretty much on par with that. A beautiful build; wonderfully studless, and I just love that canopy piece; after a round of Google Images for the original Pelican, I agree: that piece is perfect. ('Cargo bay' or 'Troop bay' would be the term you are looking for, methinks.) The mildly functional engines are neat, too. Most Sweet!
