This is the zeppelin of Johnny Thunders friend Jeroen Van Bouwsteen. They have been on several exciting adventures together, unfortunately The Avontuur was destroyed shortly after the terrible incident of Cthulego Rising!

(Yes, I know the airbag is too small. It need to be at least four times bigger, but I don't have enough Lego for that so I built a more distorted version, I hope the play value more then makes up for this.)

Built: 2005.
Current Status: Dismantled.

The airbag was by far the most ambitious and difficult part of this build.

It's built over a technic frame and had to be secured in some places by stretching elastic bands between panels. I have a much better idea how to approach this next time I build an airship.

I wanted to give the gondola an art-deco feel. The big curving windows and the brightness of light 'bley' helped to pull this off.

From the side you can see the ugly tail fins, before this was taken apart I had replaced all of these with brick built ones, but I forgot to photograph them.

The support ropes (string) helped to create the airbag illusion.

The Gondola. I don't own any train Lego, getting those round windows was a fluke and a blessing.

This pictures show the number of strings I used, some of them actually lent structural strength to the model.

Nice engines - thank you Jack Stone (never thought I would say that.)

   Of course the door opens.

This picture is confusing if you haven't seen the rest!

Might use this as a spacecraft bridge one day.

Swooshable? Not really, but great fun anyway.

Tiny airbag I know... sorry, I'll get it right next time.

That's cool! It's like the Hindenburg, but not. Just don't fill it with hydrogen!
