"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons, even death may die."
The creature is an offspring of the Cthulhu Mythos monster Shudde M'ell. The Cthulhu Mythos is based on the works of the horror writer H.P. Lovecraft and various other writers who have expanded his universe. Most of the stories take place from the 1900's to the 1940's and this makes it perfect to combine with LEGO's own Adventurers theme.
Many modern movies owe more then a little to Lovecraftian writings, John Carpenters 'The Thing',the movies 'The Relic','Mimic','Tremors' and 'Deep Rising' are all pretty much Cthulhu based!
This model is a sneak peek at my second large Cthulego diorama due to be unvealed at LegoWorld in Holland in October 2006.

being an engineer, I'm not too familiar with H.P. Lovecraft. Our professors gave us extra reading lists that contained research papers on stochastic dynamic programming techniques with boundary values, not literature. So, I'm at a bit of a loss to give any meaningful comment other than "Cool!"
