This is based entirely on the tarantula spider that was part of the LEGO Creator (then 'Designer') Set 4101 'Wild Creatures' that came out in 2003. The instant I saw it was black and red I knew I had to convert it into an M-Tron vehicle!

This was the result. Where are the magnets? Well underneath are two LEGO fridge magnet bricks and for about 18 months this was by far the coolest fridge magnet I ever owned. Unfortunately I needed to leg pieces to build the big zeppelin in the Adventurers folder and it was dismantled.

Built:2003
Current Status: dissembled.

M-tron is my favourite of all the LEGO space themes. I'm not sure why, it came out during my 'dark ages' of not building LEGO, but I've managed to get hold of at least one of each of the sets.

Here you can see the butt. It goes from four to five studs wide to keep a good overall shape.

Of course the rear doors open.

Inside are some tools, but I don't think I got a clear photo of them.

The cockpit - a classic M-Tron/Blacktron-2 neon yellow-green dome. Ugly and hard to use!

   Creepy.

I took the mangnet bricks off to photograph it as they made the body look too chunky from the side.

Curl up and die! Pesky Blacktron spy seems to have gotten to this one and finished it off!

Nice work! It looks very clean and easy to put together. The spider legs look real! And the pair of head lights make it look like a night-time predator. It's hard to believe that you managed to fit a minifig inside so small of an area.

This has an incredibly amazing spider shape for a mecha, the best I've seen. It really looks like a spider!
