Ever Since seeing Firas's Volksrod about a year ago, I've been enamoured with the whole concept and wanted to build one from lego. Only now did I feel confident in my abilities to give it a go and I think the result is fantastic.
About this creation
 With my VolksRod I went for a bit of a different look. I wanted my car to be focussed on one thing and one thing only: Going Fast! No chrome here and no fancy computers either. Just Car and Driver and a super charged, nitrous injected, porsche flat six.
 It also has a pretty slick paint job. Not as much in-your-face awesomeness as "This" , but more subdued and mean looking I think.
 Construction on this car was very fun. Everything kind of just came together after I figured out a steering mechanism for the front two wheels. The only hard part was figuring out how the back was going to look, but I think it looks the best with a complete view of the powerful engine.
 I really like this color sheme, but luckily the VolksRod isn't the biggest car or I would've had to use crack-sorry bricklink and risk becoming addicted again.
 The only part I'm not completely satisfied with is the rear. I've been tinkering with it for a while, trying to get a more Volkswageny roofline instead of the classic hot rod chopped roof line it has now. The classic roofline is growing on me though so I might just leave it as is.
 Now some lovely views of the engine. It is a Supercharged, nitrous injected, Porsche flat six (Now that's a mouthfull) which makes since because the porsche 911 and the VW Beetle are very similar cars.
 Tell me as much as you want that they are nothing alike, but you won't change my mind. Both have air cooled rear mounted engines with the boxer (flat) configuration. And the original Porsche, the 356, even used an air cooled flat four.
 In front of the engine right behind the seats is the oversized tank of Nitrous Oxide, probably not the best place for that in the event of a crash and on top of the engine, you can see the supercharger because it's a hot rod and using a turbo wouldn't feel right.
 It also has very big dual exhausts which would make quite a racket in real life. Too bad this car is lego.
 You can also see the rear suspension right in front of the exhausts which isn't really tuned for the most comfortable ride.
 Now we'll take a look at the interior through the suicide doors.
 We'll also take off the top so you can get a better view.
 This interior has everything you need: Steering Wheel (no power steering); Gas pedal, break, and clutch (manual transmision); Gauges on everything from rpm's to NOS pressure (no radio); handbrake (no airbags); and comfy seats (no back seat).
 I love the look of this interior, my best one yet, with classic seats, lots of gauges, and the lime green highlite.
 Also the car has two handbrakes. One for the rear wheels as you might expect and one for the front wheels which you probably have no use for whatsoever, but it's there if you need it.
 Now it's on to the steering and engine.
 she's also a fine looking convertable.

Very, very good model of a Volksrod. It has all the right ingredients and the attention to detail is spot-on. The engine is amazing, as well as the interior and colour scheme (check mine out, it's similar).The roof could be better sloped, but I agree with Firas, do whatever you like...Keep it up! |

WOW very, very good job. I especially like the front nose cone! I've been trying for ages to do steering but have never been able to. This could help me though.
P.S. The Nitrous would kill the people if it get's shaken up or leaks. But then again, what would there be to high-speed if there wasn't risk. ;)
BTW could you give impressions on my 14-Wide Mazda 787B please. |

This is one fine piece of Rod you built here! I really like it, the overall shape could be more rounded, but since it's a customized Volksrod, I can say nothing, you can do what ever you like, one of my favorite features in your MOC is that stunning interior. But I like everything else, keep building. |

Sweet, a Volkswagon and a Hot Rod. That's awesome. Your SNOT looks great and I like the colors too. The engine is also a nice touch. |

Very nice, I particulary like the back, the exposed engine, tail lights but the rest looks nice too, nice interior, good use of tan log pieces on the seats, awesome it has steering function, great job |

Lovely creation - it just looks 'right'. Great engine too. However, it desperately needs a firewall - the engine is right against the back of the seats! Other than that, really nice. The Rod Club is about to undergo some changes, but when it re-emerges there will be a place for this. |
