And here... we.... go
About this creation
First off, I seem to remember something about a Link to the group.
Anyway, here we go with my round one entry, I hope it will be good enough for y'all. I present to you Her Majesty's Steam Ship Galapagos intercepting a French sapper. Frankly, it's a submarine, it's supposed to sink, but now is not the time for that. That poor Steam-Marine might not be so lucky though.
First off, my beef with this build:
1) Pictures are sub-par, even for me
2) I wasn't thinking of this when I took a trip to the Calgary Lego Store a while back, so I didn't get enough blue studs for it. Realistically it should sit with the water up to the top of the grey curves at the front

The HMSS Galapagos is a mine-laying submarine designed to patrol the contested waters of the English Channel. It has a crew of 1-2; 1 man for submerged mine-laying and 2 for above-sea patrols (the second man handling the anti-air muskets) Yes, the bow can indeed hold a minifigure, though it's a tight squeeze
Loadout:
1 anti-ship floating, pressure-sensitive mine - capable of causing irreparable damage to up to 1 foot of wood with a coating of iron
2 anti-air muskets - more than a match for any nosy gyrocopter*
*I actually wanted to make a gyrocopter for this, but it wasn't working out. I cheaped out and made the steam pack

Here you get a view of the groundbreaking steam jets that power the sub. With this system, almost no energy is lost to mechanical friction in flywheels, belts, and other steamy things. This is because the majority of the steam is vented directly through the high-pressure jets. Makes a helluva rooster tail at full speed above the surface....

A side view of the little diorama

Here's the sub our of the water, in what little glory she possesses. As you might have guessed, the water and sapper were a bit of an afterthought, but I like it better in the water. During photos I forgot to take the pilot out - Whoops!

Here's a shot down the bow.

The complicated array of important stuff that serve a very important purpose, mainly looking good.

The fully articulate jests are shown here in the position they would assume upon the craft surfacing.

Here's the sub taking a left in some real water after laying her mine. I just wish it would sit just a little lower...
There you have it. With any luck this little piece of ..... waste will be sufficient to get me to round 2. Good luck everyone!

Little issues aside, this is a precious funny entry, good for 7 points. I liked how you tried to bring SP further back in time.
Consistant 7's, eh? I'll have to step up my game if I'm going to make it anywhere

The jealousy I am feeling right now as I look at all those trans light blue studs is so intense! But I can't hold my lack of lego against you, so hey really, really nice build man! I love the style and creativity, it is quite unique. Good luck!!!
Thanks, and I think I know how you feel. It's like the feeling I get when I look at Lego Lord's castles surrounded by metric tonnes of plants |
