“Sergeant, sir, I can hear them!” It is mid-August, 1942, and Germany’s great Panzers grind to a halt in Stalingrad. Russian soldiers and partisans cling to every last shrapnel scarred, ruble strewn street corner with an inhuman tenacity. “Steady, steady.” Somewhere, deep in the heart of the city, a German platoon attempts to capture a Russian small-arms factory. Unbeknownst to the Germans, the bomb-scarred factory is long abandoned, and the Russians wait in ambush for the fascists. “Now! Open fire!”
