The prologue for my newest brain-child, "Darkest Before Dawn"
If you've ever played Fallout 3 (best game EVER) than it's similar to that story. If not, then here's my story.
It's the year 2067. The war in Afghanistan turned worse in 2015. Much worse. A cache of nukes was uncovered on March 18, 2015 at 2:44am. Then they fired at 2:44pm. America was completely caught by surprise. Other nations joined in on both sides. Everybody who wasn't in a bunker or in a safe place was killed. The surviving population lived out their lives underground, constructing more and more tunnels off of the abandoned Metro tunnels. But things weren't going well underground. After 52 years in hiding, supplies were getting stretched to the limit. Somebody had to go see if the surface was habitable once again.
About this creation
They say the night is darkest before dawn. In the year 2067, nobody in America knew if this was true or not. They would send one, only one, to the surface with a shotgun, pistol, knife, and gas mask. He was to record what awaited him, and report back to the bunker in one year. If he didn't return... well, nobody much liked to think about it.
The Lone Survivor emerges to the surface at sunset. This was not what he'd hoped. It would be getting dark soon, no doubt creatures and mutations would be on the prowl.
He first surveys the surrounding area. A power line on his right, a dead tree to the left. He draws a crude drawing of this in his sketchpad. Straight ahead of him is a highway overpass over a small stream.
He heads to the stream. It's fresh water, but it's not clean to drink. It is irradiated. Should he drink it, he could get sick or die. It's not worth the risk... yet.
He comes across his first challenge. The overpass. It will be dark soon, and he wants to try and camp up high, in safety.
Slowly but surely, he makes his way up.
At the top, he must rest soon. Time to make camp for the night.
Some more pics of the build without, the sunset lighting.

It's been forever since you have posted something, and I'm glad to see you coming back! I hope you keep building stuff like this.
Thanks! This is the second thing I've posted since I came back. The first was Apocalyptic Zombie-Infested City. Also, I've brought back the group Darkest Before Dawn. You were a member LONG time ago, but check it out now!
