MOCIA 2, pt 9
Of swords and hacking and doors and other such things. Also the closest this lunatic has ever come to leaving his favorite room.
About this creation
"Hit the door? With my sword? Mmm... I don't think so. I might want to use it for something useful."

"You know, contrary to popular belief, Japanese style swords aren't anywhere near as stupidly sharp as people seem to think.
That thing about folding the steel in the blade over and over? That's to compensate for the fact that quite a bit of the iron ore in Japan was piss-poor.

It certainly doesn't make it any sharper.

And this thing? It isn't even monomolecular. If it was, it'd have sliced that robot guy in half. And even then, a monoblade is only exceptionally sharp, it's no good for going through armour. This sword? It can hack people. I daresay it'd be pretty good at that. But if I try to break down that door with it, it'd be the last thing it, or I, ever did."

"I've got a better idea."

"You see that? That's called a CON-SOLE. In space they're usually safer to use than brute force."

"I demonstrate..."

Will you:
A: Attempt to close the outer airlock?
B: Interfere with the room's gravity?
C: Fiddle with the lights?
D: Open up the box for Port Section Life Support?
E: Read, watch and listen to the various logs?
F: Try to repair the network?

You have until the 6th of September, NZ time, to decide.

Why the green and whatsit? Because everyone knows DOS is the operating system of the future. And it's the only text based operating system I've ever used, thanks to DOSBox.

Okay - I'm officially hooked on these things. I'll be forced to check back continually and attempt to alter his fate. Great work, Areetsa, neat build and idea!

Quoting Areetsa C There's no air to be blown out by. Well, not in that room, at least.
Duh. That was stupid of me! Maybe he causes the computer terminal to blow up or something, and he ricochets out into the final frontier.
Quoting Areetsa C Self destruct controls in an airlock? Mmm... might be a better idea to have them in a central, easily defended position, methinks.
Unless he accidentally hacks the system and causes some sort of malfunction (in the engine-room for instance). I don't know. I'm not a computer genius (or geek). Good point though.
Quoting Areetsa C It'd have to be a pretty small monster, probably with a snakelike jaw-unhinging ability. You know, to be able to swallow him while also being able to fit through doors. I wonder if I have anything like that sitting around...
OOOOO!! Snakes! Very cool! Either that or tentacles pull him out of the room and then deposit his bones back in...
Quoting Areetsa C Perhaps. I've noticed trends don't tend to last very long, though. MOCoffs, MOCtags; when was the last time you saw a recent one of those? Vic Vipers, Tranformatanks, heck, Iron Reich and Pre-Classic Space; those were all very popular, but you don't see 'em anymore. Although, none of those tended to get updated weekly.
...I guess not. But, like you said, they don't tend to receive weekly updates. Maybe this will last longer though. Of course, I can't speak from much experience; I only joined MOCpages on Aug. 16. Not exactly ye olde veteran.

Great idea with this series! I really like the figs with the odd head and the room design is great...now, let's see, I say...D

I wholeheartedly agree with the fact that Japanese swords are pieces of garbage. I also laugh at the guy who keeps draining the laser capacitors. I also shall go with A, as it is the quickest method to safety.

I'm going with option B. Simply because you can have some laughs with Gravity adjustments. Is it ok if I make my own MOCIA? It looks like fun.

Quoting Jeffrey Donlon There are very creative ways for him to die! What if, in the course of closing the airlock, he gets blasted out of the aforementioned airlock?
There's no air to be blown out by. Well, not in that room, at least.
Quoting Jeffrey Donlon Or, what if, whilst repairing the system, he self-destructs the ship by accident? The options are limitless. Or at least for you they are.

Quoting Jeffrey Donlon Of course, he might survive long enough to close the airlock, open the inner door to the ship, and then get killed by a big alien (killed or eaten...or both!). Just a hypothesis.

Quoting Jeffrey Donlon And, @ Sam "Shnineham" Nineham, I can attest to there being a good deal of commitment involved in a M.O.C.I.A. Just keep it simple, and you shouldn't have many problems. Areetsa, you have started a trend!

Quoting Areetsa C Mmmaybe? This one doesn't have nearly as many opportunities for creative self-euthanisation, though, because it's not packed into a single tiny room. Well, that is, it's still got plenty of opportunities (he's already nearly offed himself once so far) but they're less densely scattered. And more treacherous. There's a lot of things that can kill you in space, you know, and only around 5% of them can move of their own free will.
