United States Army Rail.
About this creation
Modern era United States Army Rail equipment and loads modeled in eight wide scale.

A common sight near many military bases are train loads of equipment being moved to and from ports of departure. This Abrahms tank has it's turrent turned to the rear for shipment.

Eight wide scale allows for more details like this bell on the locomitive. The bell is actually a rubber suction cup off from a Lego space gun.

The larger scale also allows for crew members to ride outside of the cab. This is often done durring switching opperations.

The cab interior also carries greater detail...

...as well as space for the opperator and the conductor.

The Department of Defense owns and leases many purpose built flat cars made for easy loading and unloading.

More sensitive cargo is shipped in a secure container however even the cargo bay of this HEMMT is filled for the trip.

HMMWV's can be shipped by auto carrier or flat car, depending on how many are being shipped and what rail equipment is availible.

Military and civilian crews switch out empty and loaded cars on the nations bases and depots and then hand off the assembled train to civilian railroads who use their locomotives to move the load to it's destination.

The greater detail carries on to include the engine compartment as well.

Remember the men and women who are standing in harms way for us. Pray for their safe return.

I love trains and I am in the US Army, so this is a double win for me! The level of detail is amazing.

Man, this is just incredible. I would love to see the power plant by itself - it could even stand on its own as a MOC. I'm sure a lot of Lego train clubs could benefit from the design.

8 wide is definitely what should be considered minifig scale. I see room for improvement for what's on the flatcars. ;)
