Rips on the Lake is a local restaurant that sits across the street from the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain - across from New Orleans. After hurricane Katrina, Rips was re-built, up on pilings, to protect it from high waters from the lake, incase another huge hurricane comes our way. There's a beautiful view of the lake (see sample below), if you choose to sit out on the deck to eat your meal. This model, like the actual restaurant, also includes an elevator and a bar located under the building. I would have to say that the hardest part of the model construction was the roof where the dormer meets the main roof. Lego does not make a 33 degree double concave slope, so getting these structures to come together was a major challenge. I must have put that part of the roof together about 10 times before I got close to what I wanted. It's still not perfect, but it's the closest I could get with what's available in Lego pieces.

Rita your work is just divine. I have often wanted to build a replica of some of the more stately buildings in my area and shall get to it some day. Until then I'll have to content myself with your own and others inspirational creations. |

Pretty nice. I was only in NO once back in the 70's and only for an afternoon, but I enjoyed that. Spent several days in Baton Rouge and the afternoon in NO was a side trip. Did cross the long bridge and that was pretty cool. see ya. garth |

i m happy to be first to comment on your work,it s nice detailed and attention to detail is remarkable!,same applies here, can t help but to laugh at the concept of rebuilding this place,as a joke that goes like this,..if another hurricane ever comes back, the people at the bar will be the first to drink!,[i hope it s not considered offensive! as it s not intended in any way!] just could t help it! lol!
your creation is exceptional, and the only complain i could ever have would be the lack of pics to honor it!
a question, any interiors? overall, excellent work, and hope you add some more elements,[pics]to it s present installment ! i ll be back!lol!
