My model of a DD45m, used in mines in South America, Brazil to be exact.
The REAL version was a 3' 6" narrow gauge, obviously my would be considered "standard gauge" 4' 8"... It is a Stock EMD SD45, built to specs with "DD" trucks, by EMD.
A DD truck is a 4 motor, 4 axle truck. DD Trucks are more common & known to a DD35/DDA40X.
DD35/DDA40X's are "double diesels," basicaly a locomotive with 2 Prime movers & 4 traction motors per truck. DDA40X's were a total of 6600HP (3300HP from each Prime Mover.)
The SD45m is a single Prime mover (3300HP) with the DD 4 motor trucks in place of the 3 motor SD trucks.
