Federation Starship USS Excelsior, NCC - 2000 from Star Trek VI
Finally, here she is: My version of the Excelsior Class Heavy Cruiser from Star Trek ---> Original: length: 467m; First commissioned in 2284 ---> Model: approx. 4195 parts; height: 20 cm ; width: 34,5 cm and length 97 cm It has taken me quite a long time of designing her, waiting for all the parts to arrive, building her for real, finding the time to photograph her and finally posting her on the pages. But, it was all well worth it! I don´t want to sound snobbish, but I´m really proud of how this baby turned out in the end. I dare to say that this is my best creation so far! Enjoy!
About this creation
The famous Star Trek ship "Excelsior".
The Excelsior NX-2000 was originally equipped with an experimental transwarp drive. A large number of Excelsior-class starships was built over a period of more than 60 years. Excelsior-class ships incorporate two shuttlebays in the engineering hull stern and keel. The Excelsior design is still in use as of the year 2376.

The yellow tiles and slopes on the saucer´s rim depict the RCS (maneuvering) thrusters.

Rear shuttle bay...

...and the two rear torpedo launchers.

Approaching the engineering hull´s shuttle bay.

Smooth ceiling inside the engineering hull.

Impulse engines

A little greebling above the impulse engines. The two dark grey round 1x1 plates are refered to as impulse deflection crystals. What ever their exact purpose is!

The bridge, note the ten type VIII phaser cannons around it.

Starboard saucer docking port with RCS thruster on its left (yellow tile).

Starboard engineering hull, with Federation emblem, torpedo launcher (black opening), docking port (little grey ring) and lots of windows.

Smooth ceiling above the deflector dish. The white stripe on the very bottom is not a decal. It is just a stripe of paper stuck under the white 1x2 tile and the nose of the blue slopes.

Nacelle details:
left - rear end with fins and RCS thruster (yellow tile)
middle - trans blue tiles and 1x1 slopes again, and again, and again,...
left - front end

Transwarp?

And there she is, with her stand, on her shelf inside my living room.

If you want to see another great Excelsior check out M Masaki´s Excelsior ! A very fine detailed and edited LDD version.

Simply Amazing. Makes me want to re-fit my enterprise. I must admit, I am truly awe inspired by the "lack" of a 1x1 plate to preclude the illusion of a "window." Brilliant. Again, must...find...time...to...rebuild.

Quoting Parrington Levens This just keeps on keeping on!
Yeh, I guess... Hmm, well, dunno when my GAIA capital ship will be finished. I discovered some major design flaws in the MLCAD construction and eventually need to reconstruct half of the ship all new. :-( Another challenge is that I´m buildng it in a size, I´ve never built before - quite a challenge for stability! But, what I´ve got so far looks awesome. Still struggling with myself, if I should post a preview of the MLCAD design, like I did with the Excelsior, or to drop the bomb when it´s done... Anyways, remember this one: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/184476 , it´s 97% completed from real bricks! ~Cheers

Yes I have. I'd like to build the movie Enterprise / Enterprise A. That would be cool for size comparison, since the Enterprise is exactly 2/3 of the Excelsior's size! Oh and thank you for the nice comment! ~Marc

Quoting 2x4 .

Thanks Cyber! I´m totally with you, Next Gen is one of the best Star Trek spin-offs ever made. And luckily the Excelsior class had a few apperances there. I thought about some more exciting editing, but then I thought a simple starfield background would do her the best justice! ~Cheers, Marc

Well, go to some Shops fill your cart with lots of pieces and then you end up with spending nearly 500 €. It hurts, but it is worth the pain. The rest is just waiting for the Parts to arrive. I wish I'd get all my parts in one Shop. That would make things a lot easier!

Quoting Marcus Forsberg Beautiful work, I love how you handled the shape and the details. And what a great presentation!
Thanks, buddy! Getting everything right so that it would satisfy me was a little tricky, but in the end it worked all quite well.

~LG, Marc
