"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons, even death may die."

This is the second large diorama in my Cthulhu/Adventurers theme: Cthulego.

The Cthulhu Mythos is originates in the books and short stories by the author HP Lovecraft.

In this diorama Johnny Thunder and his friends have entered an old mine working in the American west. Unfortunately the creatures that drove the original miners away have been awoken by their actions! This has not been good news for Lord Sinister who was about to arrive in force and take over the exploration, the treasure would have been his! Instead he and his men are in deep trouble. Meanwhile a Migo (ancient intelligent creature) had summoned the undead of the old Native American sacred city to drive away (or kill) the humans before the creatures where awakened, too late. Fortunately for all the secret government agency Delta Green have arrived in force with heavy weaponry, they should be able to drive the creature back below ground (providing their jeep lands in one piece). Oh yeah, The Doctor and companion have also arrived, bad timing as usual Doctor!

Things are looking bad for our heroes. Tentacles everywhere!

Though at least they aren't in as much trouble as this guy.

Just popped out to say hello!

   Run away!!!

Stab it! That's sure to stop it eating you...

Yeehaaa! Okay who said government agents were bright? Well if they land okay everything will be fine!

Monsters in the old mine - and no sign of Scooby and the Gang anywhere!

The flying creature is a Migo. It's trying to stop the monsters from being disturbed by summoning the undead to kill the humans. So really it's a good guy...?

   Okay, maybe not.

Never volunteer to be lowered down the old abandoned mine shaft, it's never the best life choice out there.

   Roar!

   Smashing!

The Wacky Races have been getting tougher...

Here come Delta Green - by plane and by jeep!

"When we say 'sacred and forbidden' there's a flipping good reason!"

Dakka-dakka-dakka! Take that slimy tentically thing!

Okay if I lean out far enough I can drop the dynamite into it's mouth!

The Sherriff is just glad someone else is here to do the paperwork.

Lots going on in Utah today.

   Wheee!

Okay who ordered the killer gerkin?

From above they all look like little model people!

   Yum! Mercenary for breakfast!

From above the true scale of the horror is pretty!

Johnny Thunder - never give up!

Pippin Reed - really should stop reading ancient scrolls out loud!

The Doctor - has to be asking why he always lands in these kinds of places instead of on nice sunny beaches!

Ah, now this is why I really like mocpages having a piece featured each day...Not knowing of this little gem's existence, I would've missed out on all the glorious carnage otherwise! Looks like certain doom for Lord Sinister. But something tells me he'll come back to trouble us again...the bad guys always do!! (Great MOC - really nicely done!!)

Dioramas are KEY to showcase mocs! Implied action from the aircraft passing overhead to the jeep plummeting off the cliff and creatures consuming unlucky minifigs is Money! I'm particularly up for your cliff dwellings and multi-tone terrain.
