Weapons

The FX-38 Scion Heavy Strike Fighter is a massive four engine fighter bomber. Capable of full VTOL flight with full thrust vectoring on all four engines, the Scion can operate in crowded urban areas and from the decks of small warships. With it's large airframe, the Scion can carry many types of weapons.

Standard Loadout

2x GT9 "Zapper" 37 mm autocannons with 270 rpg. Highly effective, capable of taking out most aircraft and light armoured vehicles with one or two shots.

8x LB96 "Toaster" 500lb laser guided bombs. Highly accurate against ground targets.

16x AMR78 "Cruncher" IR seeking multirole missiles. Capable of locking on to air targets and ground targets painted by the aircraft's onboard IR laser.

Design Notes

The model was designed in LDD. The landing gear is fully retractable. All four engines rotate downwards for VTOL flight. The aircraft is only capable of Mach 1.5 however, due to its bulky airframe and sheer mass. The quad post engine system was decided upon considering VTOL flight charecteristics and engine out performance. The aircraft uses a lot of SNOT construction.
