3 sets of book ends
About this creation
---------------------------------------------------
My entry for round four in the 2010 MocOlympics
Category : Book Ends
and my mysterious opponent Caleb McCoy
---------------------------------------------------
First of all I have to say this page contains three different sets of book ends,
I had great idea's, bad executions, one of them was to pose 4 mirrors that would make it seem that you could look through the books from one bookend to the other... didn't work out, actually that was my sole great idea...
anyway here they come.
My first attempt was a sculpture,
I named it " de Boekenwurm"

I figured that this easy wurm wouldn't do so I tried coming up with something else...
that didn't go to well,
l did build stuff eventually.
This is a data center where they use some kind of vehicle to blast through some kind of portal which sends them through some kind of books, the idea is that by doing that any pilot would gather all information written in the books withouth spending to much time reading them. some kind of odd actually
The portal kind of doesn't allow you to take your shadow allong so that's the back copy of vehicle and figure.

So what's that worker minifigure doing there, it may look he's painting on of the black railings in red but actually he's trying to conseal a construction error (yeah, sorry, I just don't have 8 black ones :P )
My final attempt is a slightly spactle-themed moc which has on the right side some microscaling presenting Blacktron 1,5 (one and a half) conquering the galaxy, the other end holds some kind of spactle castle on a Mars-like surface.

Let's start with the right half, contains half a microscale planet, a space cruiser (quite large in comparison to that planet, to show the true magnificance of the conquers and a part of Mars-like surface with the Blacktrons' Flag symbol (crest) (actually I was going for a Triforce, this practically is an upside down Triforce (The legend of Zelda)
(the minifigure standing aside is actually blacktron II)

the left half holds more Mars-like surface and a neat technique in a fortress-like thing.
Blacktron is attacked by a pterodactyl-like creature (notice the use of Mars alien pieces) spreading darkness (or something like that)

Check out the features of my modern Arrow slit - flexible embrasure - crenel - positionable vent- technique :P
I was came up with it when designing my trampler mech in previous round but I wasn't able to make a mech large and solid enough to make it actually fit in it.

Closed position, armored panels protect whoever's in there

Refreshing position, the panels form vents

Arrow slits, you can actually choose between two or one arrow slit, oh man, if I had some more lego I would make a gigantic spactle castle on an orange planet surface :o
...just don't forget to mention how awesome I am when you comment :p

This may seem a bit underhand since I made Three sets of bookends though remember that the category said "create the coolest bookends" it doesn't say anything about the amount of bookends.
I didn't plan to make three sets however,
I disliked this category a lot, two of three sets where built this same day, my first wasn't good enough, my second wasn't either and you know, actually I think my third isn't good enough as well
I'm not optimistic about this round

what sense of style!, apart from the bookworm who did nt make it much for me,¸`too bath tub duckesque``for me,but the rest is almost visionary!,love em,the portal has to be my fav as well,as i find a cartoonesque quality about the fire brick drawing!,i find it very inspiring,as it s very well done!,the vents idea is deeply inventive, stunning work sebeus!

I love the how you created the fire in the portal, it looks very realistic, and the planet attached to the wall was really well-built. Great job! |

Like several others have said, I think you've sold yourself a little short here. The fire mosaic makes the second pair the stand-out for me, but each has great points. The bookworm is a really nice sculpture piece, translating the curves. Really good job with a tough subject. |

Congrats, Sebeus, you've got my vote on this round! Very cool concepts with the second and the third variation. I really liked the portal concept, and the micro space theme was not only a great idea, but well executed. Nice job! |

All of three have there high points, although I'm pretty sure I've seen the bookworm idea before. Something themed with the books would have been nice, as your opponent did, but does not take away from the quality of your builds. I would have to say that the middle one is my favorite; the portal technique and execution really worked for me. Good luck, but I have a feeling you'll be a part of the Elite Eight.~H |

I like the micro ship and Mars scene the most but all three are neat. It just helps show off how cool themed bookends are. Course I'm a big book nerd so there you go. Nice work. GL! see ya. garth |

Plenty of good building here from what I can see, the Bookenwurm is probably my favourite - sometimes simple ideas are the best. Don't give up yet! |

WOW!!! Color me impressed! I have the same problem with those rails! I was looking for 4 in my stash and I only had 3. Luckily the Halloween Atlantis impulse buy at Target had 2! I love the bookworm, the second one where he blasts through to get all the info is genius, and the third with the ship is outstanding!! Good luck with the judges! |

Why does your link lead to your entry, not Caleb McCoys? YOu might want to change that.
he doesn't have an entry yet so I practically copied the heading from my R3 entry, but thanks for telling, I'll fix it |
