XV-47 'Polaris' Hardsuit
A froggy hardsuit. This was mostly an attempt to build a fully enclosed hardsuit at a small scale.
About this creation
Developed during the Monkey Wars, the XV-47 'Polaris' was an experimental hardsuit designed for frontline combat. Equipped with a heavy beam rifle and a beam sword, this suit found immediate use by the Department of Screwing With The Enemy. The suits were typically equipped with a low-grade active camo generator and deployed behind enemy lines, where they would damage the propulsion systems of all monkey craft that passed them. One notable incident was during the second month of hostilities, when an entire convoy of mecha had their left leg severed at the knee and were then left there. In addition to sabotaging enemy vehicles, they were tasked with removing the feet of any enemy officers they encountered, carving anti-monkey propaganda into all monkey supply crates, stealing or destroying the coffee supply, stealing or destroying all power cords they encountered, and replacing all enemy uniforms with bannana suits whenever possible. With absolute confusion reigning over monkey territory, Frog forces were able to sweep in and offer to make it stop if they'd only surrender.

The suit is roughly double the height of the average human being (Four times the height of the average monkey and something like ten times the height of the average frog) weighs close to five tons. It is what many people refer to as 'A Mobile Dose of Bad Day'.

Mounted on the right shoulder is a missile box, for instances where beam spam is simply not enough. It has two firing modes: Macross Missile Massacre and Not firing.

The rear of the suit is as heavily armored as the front, and mounts a small jump pack system to allow it to pursue fleeing targets or to escape areas that have become too hot. It's also great for parties.

While the other shoulder is not equipped with anything dangerous, we would like to point out that it can be.

Everything looks better from a 3/4 view, so we have provided you with one.

The head houses a small communications suite and a multidirectional camera feed that allows the pilot to see what is going on in front of him.

The pilot has to enter the suit via a hatch located in the chest.

The frog pilot does not have much room inside the suit, but that is to be expected at something of this size. Note: The chest should not come off like this too often. We only recommend it for maintenance, as going into battle like this would be silly.

The legs are mostly humanoid in design, as we have realized that humans seem to be a pretty good design to base our mechs on. This does not mean we admire them, we have merely noticed they are taller and therefore more useful. Don't get cocky.

The XV-47 has a tendency to be slightly weak at the knees, but we plan on working this bug out in future generations. For the moment, it works.

The arms are slender enough to be useful for things like reaching behind large computer consoles and stealing the power cords, but tough enough for holding down a struggling monkey officer while your partner cuts off his feet.

The missile box can hold a total of 42 missiles due to a dimensional rift located in the ammo crate.

Many have referred to the beam rifle as 'overcompensating'. We agree completely, but we have to admit it works well.

No one has ever called the beam rifle a pretty weapon, but it gets the job done.

In addition to the rifle, the Polaris comes equipped with a beam saber. It's such an elegant weapon, no?

And that's all folks!

Off the wall commentary:
This was fun. It came together surprisingly well, I had few problems with stability, and it looks great. I'm quite happy with the results! I only wish I had more black elements so I could build a better gun, but I did the best with what I have. Thanks for stopping by, and leave a comment if you have the time!

Quoting crash 703 If frogspace wasn't created by you then who did? You should make a group and name it Frog-punk and the only rule on the creations is that it has to have some sort of mechanical mechanism in it and there has to be frogs. I'd join that kind of group!
Frogspace was created by Spook over on Flickr. I just brought it across the great cybersea to Mocpages. I've considered doing something like that though...

Quoting Luke Skywalker Good job. Although, you have an unnerving amount of fluorescent yellow pieces.
Thanks! Although I don't think two trans-yellow pieces is enough to be unnerving ;)

Thanks! It was a fun build.
Quoting Sebeus I Very nice, I can use some small mechs as inspiration now :P it's packed with details, good job
Sweet! I'm glad I could help!
Quoting Nicks Bricks Wow great mech, i really need to learn how you make mechs like this, cause i stink at them, anyways great job~Nick
I recommend browsing through Lord Dane's photostream on Flickr for some inspiration.
Quoting BunkÝ . is it okay if i make frogspace stuf?
Absolutely! Frogspace isn't my creation, so feel free to do so!
Quoting Tom Simon That's an awful lot of nice shaping and detail at this scale.

U muzt holdz. No iz bafrum in suit.
Quoting J K Very good for such a small scale.
I think I do better on a smaller scale, actually.
Quoting A minute ago ... Great commentary! But not as good as the build!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Quoting W Mark Nice hardsuit, although I think the elbows would be better if they could bend inwards (which makes for some awesome rifle poses). The writeup gave me some chuckles, great work.
Now that you mention it, I really wish it could do that too. However the arm joints aren't strong enough for something like that, even with rotation.
Quoting E.K.O . Nice work, it doesen't look very stable, but it's still good!
Thanks! It's quite stable though. I've had no problem getting it balanced. It's just extremely fragile, as the entire torso is held together on by two clips.
Quoting Master Shifu Leo J Amazing attention to detail! Cool use of parts!
Thank you! As they say, 'God is in the details'.

Quoting Swift ~ Very nice work here, I love the commentary as usual, and the Hardsuit is great. I like this spelling mistake: abttle. Say it out loud. :)
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! But a spelling mistake, you say? I don't know what you're talking about. ;)
Quoting Jason Dominguez Reinforcements! This does not bode well for the human resistance, however little there is, does it?

Quoting William Meng Really great mech! I am somewhat scared of that beam rifle.
Thank you! And you should be. It could be the thing that removes your car tires as you try to drive to work.
Quoting Cody G Your commentary, as well as the build, is entertaining and very well done. :)
Thank you! As I've said many times before, I love the commentary.
Quoting that guy over there you'd think that the 1x2 tiles with 1 stud would look bad compared to flat 1x2s, but it kinda looks better than my imagination, 99999/5... Macross Missile Massecre... XD
I feel the jumper plates give it a nice bit of texture that smooth plates would deny.
Quoting Cade Goertzen this is definitely one of the better hard suits for frogs ive seen.!!!
It's also one of the few ;)

Quoting Minifig Maniac Amazing! I love it.

Quoting Waffles . I still say that third shot looks like he's doing a pelvic thrust. Anyway, great mech here, it's been a while since you made a mech relative to a minifigure's size. Great job my friend, the frogs are victorious once more! ~Waff
Thanks! A pelvic thrust is possible. I didn't plan it that way, but it's possible... And it really has been awhile since I made something like this.
Quoting Ced The Clever I love that you hide frogs and other animals in your MOC's, it really makes them unique. Great job aside.
Thank you! However it's not really hiding if the MOC was made specifically for that animal now, is it? ;)
