Mage Tower
Well its been a long time since i've uploaded any MOCs, so heres one that I recently put together. I've slowly been building my resources and getting a larger variety of bricks - allowing me to try some of those techniques that make the Pros stand out from the rest. I'm happy with the result and hope to be able to take it a level higher on my next MOC after investing a further $2k into bricks. Enjoy and remember to comment :)
About this creation

Shows how far the Mage Tower is from the Rock Spire

I used SNOT work to give the base of the Spire a coastal look, cliffs often have jagged flat rocks around their base.

Made use of the PoP Race against Time light-up bricks, activated by pushing down the very top of the Spire.

Right side shot.

Shot of the underside of the Mage Tower.

View of the Mage Tower Support. Hard to tell the top of the Spire is a button ;)

Close-up. The MOC is supposed to be Microscale, though most of it will fit minifigs. Figure = 1 brick high. Those ferns are the size of ones found in a typical NZ thicket.

One more Pic for the heck of it!

I hope you have enjoyed this, like I say, over the next couple of months I will be buying many more bricks - my next MOC can hopefully sport the same techniques to a more impressive standard. Cheers!

amazing! This has a very clean look to it, but when you zoom in you can see that it's actually a fairly small build, but you nailed the overall look you were going for. Love it, and I'm on to your other stuff now, seeing an EPIC build.

Awesome! I love the forced perspective, although I'm not sure if that was intended. It sure does look like the tower is higher than it actually is. Cool :)

Quoting Galaxy of Unitronus That's some impressive landscaping there. It doesn't look well balanced, but it works.
The trick is to build out of balance but in such a way that it works, its what I was going for and I'm glad I achieved it. Thanks.

Quoting Dominick S I found the store, but it only said trans. dark blue. Are those the ones you buy? Those are the only ones that are blue that he has in stock (that I know of).
Yup those are the ones :) Tr Dark Blue.

This is amazing! You inspired me to build more landscapes! I might need to use that idea of SNOT to make the rocks somehow more detailed. Where do you get your 1x2 trans. blue pieces? I went on BrickLink, but it seems like there is only one seller. If you can reply to this it would be greatly appreciated. Are you going to BrickCon this year?

The seller who I went to currently has his store locked while he is on holiday. Specialist in Bricks is the store. Last I saw he had put up another 5000 of the tiles, I took 2000 of them - of which the Pirates Remorse MOC only uses half of :)

looks great. i'm not even sure how you made the tower into a button, but however you did it, it is very clever

that's the stuff. love this connection between rock and tower, excellent drop foliage as detail, but also to mask connect. much more effective way to support a "floating" structure than thin center support, which has been done to death. this is very good.

Well, I can see that the whole gang made it here before me, which tells me I need to catch up on stalking them! Work tends to do that...Fantastic stuff, the floating effect came out superbly.~H

Quoting Tom Simon Cute tower. The rocks are nice. Just a few touches to the water would add a lot.
Thanks Tom, I agree about the water, unfortunately my Lego collection only has 4 Tr.Blue pieces and 11 Tr.Clear pieces... so cant do a lot with large open waters. Would love to have the resources to do detailing like yours. Incredible!

Quoting Leda Kat I don't have very many white bricks... I don't have very many blue bricks either, or green for that matter... am a bit lacking on light and dark grey too and my red and orange supply is less than adequate... I have lots of tan and brown... but am desperate for some dark tan to add to my collection, and my large amount of black is so seldom used it is now grey with dust. BUT I just received in the mail 100 magenta 2x2 tiles. Have absolutely no idea what I will do with them, but they are gorgeous!
lol at the tiles, sounds wonderful. Yeah im after the new castle range sets and brick boxes. I want to make green hills treelines and snowlines.

Quoting Leda Kat Wow that's beautiful! Love the way it appears to float. The rock work is amazing too. You just spent 2k on bricks?! Wow!!! Mind you, I'm saving for Brickworld next year so my lego budget is severely limited of late. Impressive work Thoy, looking forward to the next gem you have in store for us :)
Thanks mate. Havnt spent it yet, over the next couple months or so, have hookups at a local toy store which i take advantage of. Hows your white bricks coming along?
