Phipson is off to Disneyland! He requested if some of us could make a moc to honour the occasion...
About this creation
I put together a small, random and strange little homage to the Sorcerers Apprentice sequence from the classic Disney film "FANTASIA"
Chris is of course Mickey Mouse who has taken the Sorcerer's Hat and discovered a world of magic at his fingertips.
I tossed up the idea of doing the moments before this where Mickey has enchanted the broomstick... but it is quite disturbing when he hacks it to pieces with an axe, so I just went for this well known image.
The starry night-sky and the plinth Phippy Mouse stands on are connected with a transparent bridge... if you squint your eyes and hold your tongue just right and curl up your little toe it is almost invisible and the two structures appear to float.
I varied the length of the stars to mimic the way Mickey (Phippy) makes them dance in the movie.
With a black background and a light behind the stars to make the magic glow!
Chris I hope you and your daughter have a blast at Disneyland!
I am so jealous of that hat! Where did you get it? As Moodswim already said, love the light up part. You seem to have a ton, where do you buy yours? I can't get good prices where I live. Right now I'm sick with an ammonia!! :(
Phippy mouse? Nope, can't see it. More like a hippo. He's going to love this when he gets back. The lighting is SPECTACULAR! I'm not certain how you managed that. I can't wait to see if Mr.Kelso makes one. Hehehe...
Ahh, okay... Put the litter box in that one spot in the laundry room and see if that helps. It could very well be that because it had been locked out of that room it is simply trying to mark its territory for when its not there, even though they are inside cats and have no threat of other cats, they still have the instinct of "keep other cats away" inside of them, and will act upon those instincts whenever situations change. Cats are 100% creatures of habit, its how they feel safe and comfortable and there will always be a long period of upset when you change any situation in their lives, however small you may think it is, the cats will react. I think time and a little patience on your Dad's part will solve this now that they are allowed back in there.
Okay. Our cats are indoor-cats, so they don't have problems with other cats, and there is no construction or anything. We thought they might be mad because we stop letting them go in the laundry room at night instead of just the garage. So we let them back in both rooms, but it didn't work. They keep peeing on the same spot in the laundry room, and sometimes it looks more like they're actually marking their territory. I'm trying to get my dad to stop being so forceful with them and take them to the vet, but my parents say that's not the problem. And, well, "they're always right". I'll try and keep an eye on the cats though. They still use their litter box, and I've seen them both use it recently, but one of them is just also peeing in the laundry room. I'll keep a closer eye on them, though.
It sounds to me like they're spooked about something. Is there a new neighbourhood cat around? Or something noisy happening outside like a construction site or something? Cats go through little phases, just like children do. Usually they will get through it in their own time, but to help them along revert back to toilet training them. Everytime you see one sniffing around a corner or acting suspicious pick it up and put it on the litter box. Stay with it, if it steps straight out put it back on. When it steps out again put it back on and hold its front legs and dig the litter with them, encouragement like that prompts them to remember. Don't yell at it, and curse even though you are frustrated, (TELL YOUR DAD THAT TOO!) as it will only frighten it and make it more inclined to just let loose! When a cat is spooked they do whatever they can to make an area feel safe, ie: marking their territory. Treat them like kittens again and re-train them. Failing that, take them to see a vet as they could have an infection or diabetes, or if they are getting older, their food may be inadequate for their changing systems to handle.
Well, my cats are actually well-behaved. It's just that lately they've, well, been peeing on stuff. And yes, they're litter box-trained...for almost 7 years. We've tried a lot of things, but they keep doing it. My dad says if they keep it going, we'll have to get rid of them. Any suggestions?

Trouble with cats? The worst things my cats do is walk on the computer.
Yeah, mine do too. And roll around in piles of my lego, and smooch mocs so they fall down and break... not to mention all the cat hair that I have to pluck out of each build (and the ones that I miss and only notice AFTER I've posted the photos...)
I'm with Heath, my brain has been so befuddled with MO's that I found no time for this or the Hallowen vig contest. Shame really as I would not have been so gentle to Chris..... Lovely effect with the stars, it's really quite distracting! Great job mate.
I don't remember receiving this memo! LOL That is very well, as I've had my head all wrapped up in the MOC O's. This is an outstanding creation here Leda! My favorite part would have to be the Phippy minifig.
Who's the leader of the club made for debauchery? Phi... ppy... m o u s e! Phippy Mouse! HAHAHA Just to avoid any confusion, I'm actually going to Disneyworld (Florida) not Disneyland (California). Anyway... Leda, this is AWESOME! I'm pretty sure this is going to win the contest (being the only entry has nothing to do with it though haha) Seriously, awesome work dear! Should this win (I'll make it official later tonight if there's no other entries) then I'll be sure to add your prize to the package that'll be enroute shortly. Awesome work Leda! ~ Chris.
Hey, that means Chris is near my hometown. I hope he stays in Disneyland away from me... I love the music to this movie as well, really great. Back then, people actually put thought into those animated movies. Or maybe its because I just like the old style 2D animation, it looked more cartoon actually. Great moc though. ~Waff
There you go, doing it with the lights again. Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but great lighting, effects, idea, build, etc. ;) Still, I feel like I've already used up all of my words of praise on your previous MOCs. That really says something about the consistent quality of your creations.
Ahhhh, watched that movie with the sound down and Peter Gabriel's 'Passion' playing over the top of it...trippy; I hear that side two of 'Dark Side of the Moon' works great too. Yes, a 'brownie' MAY enhance the experience=P Clever scene you've built here~H
