The least I can say is that I'm HONOURED to be part of the epic eight; what a game!
About this creation
My Worthy Opponent
Xanadu
My Magicpunk is totally inspired by the Magic the Gathering Card game. Played the game a few years, but quit around seventh edition. My favourite card sets were Tempest and Urza’s Saga. My favourite artwork artist is John Avon .
Wizards of the coast is were you’ll find most of the information about the game.
I feel like this is my most aesthetic build so far. I love the fact that the base is not square and the back is a tip. I had good fun in choosing colour schemes for each segment too. Each segment represents a colour and it’s game aspects. White for protection, life gaining and sanctuary. Blue for counter spells, control and wisdom. Red for land destruction, direct damage and fire. Black for generating mana, graveyard abilities and death. Green for big creatures, regeneration and strength. There is also a total lack of steering, handles or computers. They do use machinery but all is wheeled by magic.
I made every Magicpunk vehicle emplaced in a segment shaped scenery. It should not count in the judges, uhm judging, but adds a lot to the feel of it. It may count as artwork on the playing cards. In addition, I added all of the (fictive) information like it should be on an official card, but none of them actually exist (I wish!). If time and no rules would apply, these were all photo shopped into the real thing. Maybe some time later…
Meanwhile: have fun with this, I know I did!
WHITE.

Celestial Guardian

Casting cost:
Three plains, two colourless lands
Creature.
Abilities:
Flying.
When blocking, Celestial Guardian gains protection from a colour of your choice.
If Celestial Guardian deals damage to a creature or player, you gain life equal to that damage.
Flavour text:
- Truth is the first casualty of war. - Marn, Sinistral monk.
4/8
BLUE.

Merfolk Sky Raper

Casting cost:
Two islands, two colourless lands.
Creature.
Abilities:
Flying.
Mana cost: 1 island: counter target spell.
When Merfolk Sky Raper blocks, you may remove any card from any opponents hand into his graveyard.
Flavour text:
-Ignorance is bliss, knowledge is divine.- Ertai, wizard adept.
2/6
BLACK.

Phyrexian Grave Keeper

Casting cost:
Three swamps, two colourless lands
Creature.
Abilities:
Shadow.
If Phyrexian Grave Keeper deals damage to a player, you may search his library for any card and put that card in his graveyard.
Mana cost: two swamps: Return Phyrexian Grave Keeper to your hand.
Flavour text:
- Death lasts longer.- Burk Morgan, Graveyard Keeper.
5/4
RED.

The Fire Witch

Casting cost:
Four mountains.
Creature.
Abilities:
Unaffected by summoning sickness.
Attacking does not cause Fire Witch to tap.
When attacking, Fire Witch gets +2/+2 for each Fire Witch in play.
Mana cost: 1 mountain: destroy target land.
Flavour text:
- As hot as a dragon’s breath, she is, and an appetite for destruction alike!- Old goblin saying.
4/3
GREEN.

Rootbreaker Trike

Casting cost:
Two forests, two colourless lands
Creature.
Abilities:
Trample.
Return Rootbreaker Trike to your hand: a creature of your choice gains +X/+X for each forest in play.
If Rootbreaker Trike is put into your graveyard, you may put another Rootbreaker Trike in play.
Flavour text:
- Sharp edged steel lifts the tree foot ‘n heel.- Ancient Elves chant.
3/3

Wow very interesting MOC. All of the builds represent the card game very well, and each would be beasts of their decks'. I think I started playing Magic in 7th edition, played through college with friends, and now the deck sits and waits. My favorite artist was Quinton Hoover. |

Gio, this is beautiful. I would be hard pressed to choose one as my favorite. Each has its charms. You have also nicely reproduced the style of the text parts of the cards. I am tickled by your remembrance of your red-green combo decks. Our strategies may have had something in common. I agree with Stuart, though, your casting costs are too low for these. Thanks for reminding me of the fun of a great game I have not played for years. |

And I think those creatures are actually magipunk! The're mechanical things controlled by magic... Like duh... I hope you will still win! Good luck!

Hahaha, if they were MTG cards Gio, they would be popular rares because they are loaded with abilities for not much summoning cost! I personally like the Phyrexian best, but I always used to play black or white weenie decks. The Urza's sets, tempest and so on are a great example of Magicpunk I think, so this is a pleasure to see, really well presented with the clever geometric base. Great job and good luck.
Thanks! I used to combine green & red in my killer decks, you know; strike hard & fast! Come to think of it, I kind of miss the game, but it became to money & time consuming. I sold everything and went for the Lego addiction. It's nice to hear there are some wizards around here :)

Certainly if this round was for build us a game rather than magicpunk, then you would have nailed it. However, it isn’t. Despite the lovely build, I don’t feel that you were even close to the category asked for. Again – smoking build, but my vote went to Tyler who met the category requirements. Lee.
That's a rather dissapointing opinion, but as you're a judge, I should respect that. I would like to state clear that I didn't intend to copy a game, rather to use it as inspiration; as an environment for the Magicpunk vehicles. It's all cream with the coffee, people!

This was a close one in my book with Tyler really doing some MOCing in both concept and technique, but I've got to give my vote to you on this round. The star pattern was striking in it's initial appearance, and the color work as part of the concept was terrific. Some nice parts usage here and there as well. Great work!
