Above, you can see the pilot outside his amazing mecha. It comes outfitted with superior articulation and armor. It's only armament are the 6 heat-seeking missile pods on its shoulders.
Below here is a nice shot of the head, with the visor opened. The whole head can, in fact, swing forward so that the pilot can exit.

This is how the mecha opens for the piot's entry.
In order to get the fig inside, the head swings forward, and the shoulders of the mecha swing down at their atach point (the minifig legs).
There's a lot of things I like on this mech, but definitely I like the hands the best. There's something really cool about them that I just can't describe.
